The final cost of project Apollo was reported to Congress as $25.4 billion in 1973. In 2009, NASA presented an estimate of the Apollo program costs in 2005 dollars as roughly $170 billion Cost of invasion and occupation of Iraq. $795 billion. Back of the napkin estimates say we could run 4 Apollo programs for what we paid for Iraq.
