calamitysandra -> RE: What are some childhood comforts you still enjoy? (6/15/2011 2:16:36 PM)

Over the last years I have realized that many of the things that I loved as a child and that gave me comfort, are the same things that I try to give to my kids. (The other big category being things I coveted but did not get.) They have wised up to that fast, and know exactly on which things Mum will be an easy sell. Books where one of the major comforts of my childhood, and I still love them so very much. Big boxes of used ('cause cheap used books make for bigger boxes) books are still my favourite presents today. The Guy asked if he should have his pay send directly to Amazon. The boys get practically every book they express interest in, and then some. I loved office supplies, and even today own much more than I need. School supply shopping for the boys is a happy occasion for me, and they always get the fancy stuff I wanted but did not get. My mother was a very bad cook, but there was one pasta casserole that I loved. After much trying I am now able to replicate the recipe. It is a regular fixture in our house. Alf. The series and the cassette tapes thereof. I own them on CD, and often listen to them during housework. My father collected Lucky Luke, Asterix, and Clever&Smart comics and I used to sneak them into my room to read. Now I have a bunch of them myself.
