one of my hobbies is interpreting the meaning of names. not just finding the meanings of them individually, but taking the meanings of all a person's names and using those to create a coherent whole.
for example my full name **full name edited by VideoAdminXi** means

graceful, divinely favoured girl from the island with linden trees in lincoln marsh, a child of grace
<i like that it begins and ends with the idea of grace>

and heather's means:
merciful heather's noble beauty remains
<her name was fucking hard to do, one of her middle names is "alles". wtf??>

and churchill's name means:
lion-brave steward of the church on the hill in the peaceful friend's town
<i'm still trying to confirm the meaning of "wina". at this point i'm interpreting it as "peaceful friend">

do any of you know what your name means? if so please you share your interpretation of it with us.
or pick a famous person and i'll see if i can come up with a good interpretation.

also if anybody wants to they can post their name (as much or as little of it as you want to post) or send it to me on the other side, and i'll interpret it..

note: i can do western european names easily, but i'm game to take a shot at nearly anything, but if its swahili or some other fucking obscure thing, its going to take a while.

My first name is the Scandinavian version of the Latin name for the twinflower, Linnaeaus' favorite flower.

My last name is the name of the farm where my Mother's Father was born.

In Norway back then, siblings didn't share surnames, but when he & his siblings came to the New Country, they knew that was the custom, so they took a vote & chose the name of the farm.

Not very exciting, but I like the ethnic heritage.

My first name is the Spanish equivalent of the word "watching" and "looking". I know in Spain it is mostly a surname.
My second name means "re'-born" and is a derivative of the Italian/Latin word Rinascimento.

My surname is a place in the Netherlands. But it isn't actually spelled that way, because of the mistakes there were made in the early 1800's in writing.
For a fact I know, that surnames just were introduced as the brother of Napoleon became King of the Netherlands in 1814.

And the name I go by in daily life means "Peace" and "World" in Russian. But that one I choose myself.

well i'd interpret your name to mean:
watching the rebirth of (whatever town it is)

or to use your chosen name as well:
watching the rebirth of world peace in (whatever town it is)

well linn, yours is pretty straightforward
The twinflowers of (farm name)
or
(farm name) of the twinflowers

that might change, depending on what the farm name means, of course.

and your screen name (and the meaning of the latin name of the twinflower) means:
northern lime tree

i actually just finished reading a book that had a section on linnaeus an his systema naturae

Pamela: "All honey"

'Nuff said.

Oops, forgot the surname.....since it's pretty uncommon, I don't want to divulge too much, but it translates to "house by the stream". (Yes, my last name is Outhouse)

Wich is the shortened version of Miranda

Thank you Hannah! You just erased years and years of ridicule for me!
Being the youngest of 8 children, I was often referred to as "little phlegm"

Now I know I am really just someone who came from a medieval county
that extended along the coast of the Low Countries.

Whew!

Andrea: depends on where ya look, but it means either womanly or courageous
i hate to be the bearer of bad tidings greedy, but andrea is derived from andros, so would mean "manly" not "womanly".

but as always this can be interpreted in a nicer way:
god's gracious gift to the manly son of (whatever name).
or
god's gracious gift to the courageous son of (whatever name)

or
courage is god's gracious gift to the son of (whatever name)
or
by god's grace the son of (whatever name) is virile
or
by god's grace the children of (whatever name) are courageous

you could probably get a better one using the meaning of the given name in your surname. say it was "jacobson", then you could get something like
daring is god's gracious gift to the child of the usurper

you don't have to keep them in order, that's why you take the name as a whole

hey miranda, mooie naam, heel lyrisch (yay for online translators!!)
as i was falling asleep i thought of this. instead of watching, use the sense of looking, and you get

looking for the rebirth.......

i think that's better, don't you? also the place name probably has a meaning as well, which could give you something even better.
