Hee hee!

That is exactly the sort of thing I would like to keep out of general, though, Rho. Or, more precisely, perhaps, limit it to at most one train wreck thread there at a time. It causes some people not to post, and the energy infects some of the others who do post, so things degenerate.

I see very few trainwrecks going on in general discussion. When I first joined this site there would be several a week. Everything from "Why are subs fat" to "Slaves are more submissive than subs" threads... safeword threads that went for weeks (yes, I used to argue about these things too). Those things are not debated much anymore. The people who stirred the pot about those topic are no longer posting here... they self selected, as you would say. That is what you said you wanted, those who like train wrecks and arguing to go elsewhere... yet at the same time you seem to be bemoaning the loss of posters (or retention of them). Lets face it, there is a popcorn smiley for train wrecks for a reason, they can be entertaining to some people, and they generate traffic.

I do not go to PR for train wrecking. I genuinely love to debate political crap. I have been doing it for 12 years over the internet intently, and I enjoy it... I do not go there to beat up people so I can get it out of my system so when I post in lifestyle forums I can behave myself.

it would appear you've lost that "context" thing during multiple quotasms.

pD

So are you and the thread owner friends?  Partners?  Switchy kinksters who like to "bump uglies" (to use a vulgar American term)?  Sure seems like you have her back quite firmly.

Cali

does it matter to you?

Innit. Which is why, unless needles is gonna get a flashlight and a balaclava and break into wherever CM's servers are, no thread will ever be hers.

Am I the only who wondered what baklava had to do with this thread?

I used to work with a young woman by the name of Kasha...which translates to buckwheat. I would tease her about it on occasion, but not too much because she also cut my hair. ;)

Those who freak at the mods every time they delete or move something, need to better understand the concept of shoveling shit into the surf.

there is a lot less shit to shuffle if you just let it flow to the cesspit naturally... but if you start meddling i think you should put up a sign

quote:

Implied ongoing ownership is just bullshit and anyone who is in such a rush that they think they don't have to read the TOS on a website they SIGN A CONTRACT with, is essentially an idiot when they post 'what should be'. Never mind that giving up ownership and acquiescing to the actual owner of the data, the  right to modify are fundamental customs on the internet in regard to content such as we post here. Then again assholes and opinions are inexorably linked.

photos posted here are surely still your own property, and peoples own opinions also remain their own... you don't loose rights to your own stuff just because you share it else where, the site might imply that that is the way it is , but that is just not right.
That the site might change things or forbid things or delete things is fine, but they should be upfront about it in my opinion (which remains my opinion)

quote:

I've often thought that this stems from some view on the part of the author that they have created some 'intellectual property' that if left to rest in it's 'hallowed' spot, picked out 'specially' by it's author, that someday, along will come another who will read their marvelous creation and spark a revolution or generate the next occurrence of the big bang. Sadly, this is more likely a sign that they should simply decrease the dosage.

That might be the case for some, but who cares?

Speaking of which, I'm not particularly fond of false accusations on the boards. I tend to see them the same as blacklisting that's outlined. If you can't back up the claim, don't put it on the board about another poster. However, I'm probably harsher on that because I'm very much against people intentionally (or due to ignorance) lying about others.

ha that is rich

....and just like that, I'm hungry.

Is balaclava not a word that gets used in American English, or did you just misread? (That's a serious question, because it occurs to me that it's a word from the Crimean war, so it might well not have made it over the pond. Language is interesting.)

And thank you to you and Nueva for talking about QOTD - I'm glad I could make you guys smile.

I dont believe the thread was initially about 'noobs' getting answers to questions. But about moderation techniques etc in general

you will have been accepted and welcomed, you're female/couple I assume?

Females (I doubt) would be viewed as looking for WankFodder outright. Males, it would appear, are.

This thread is a good example of derailing being okay... we're no longer talking about the initial subject, and the discussion has been varied.
(I have to admit to being lost to a large degree, as comments and posting from 'other' threads have also been raised in here.)

as for banning:
I was... on this site.
No explanation, no reply to question... but hey, thats the nature of the beast, we are told.

pD

I have not read past this remark so have no idea whether a mod has answered you or not, but......was this banning in prior periods, because you are posting now so you are not banned?
