Ohio groups collect 700,000 signatures to force recall referendum on Ohio's anti-union law. Only needed 231,000. Power to the people, power to the people right on!

SB5 opponents exceed signature goals
Claim to have three times the needed amount to get repeal on ballot.

The law signed by Gov. John Kasich in late March bans public employee strikes and restricts collective bargaining rights for more than 350,000 teachers, police officers, state employees and others.

I am happy for them, and I think they will do it!

That is a large number of votes. The social and political faux pas here and there, does not bode well for republicans in '12.

Especially since the population of Ohio is only 11,542,645, with 8,164,823 registered voters.

So 1/6 of Ohio's voters signed the petition. Only half of actual voters are needed?

Well, I don't know what Ohio law is, and didn't want to presume a simple majority would repeal the legislation.

Though that would be my guess.

They only need 231k signatures to put the recall motion on the next ballot. to recall the law takes a simple majority of votes cast.

I'm guessing that there are way more people in Ohio that like that new law. The republican governors now in office accross this country were voted in for a reason,.

Yes we will. Wisconsin will have a balanced budget now that Scott Walker and the republicans took control last November. It will be the first balanced budget in over 20 years here in the Badger state.. He was elected to do a job and he is doing it.

Yeah,Mussolini made the trains run on time, too.

This democracy at work.

And that,..... is what irks the cons.
