my cats sometimes do the same kind of *ahem* barking sounds. I believe it is a "come pay attention to me" sound. Once I am nearby, they return to their usual kitteh sounds, or more often just purring...

once the cat in the video knew it had someones attention again, it went back to so-called NORMAL catspeak.

What's wrong with being bilingual

A previous cat of mine did that when twice binnen a short period of time my doorbell rang...she never did it when once the doorbell rang but if it happened soon later again, then she regularly barked.
