outhere69, the Cooper Nuclear plant is not shut down, however Nebraska Public Power District declared a Notification of Unusual Event Sunday for the Cooper Nuclear Station located three miles southeast of Brownville, Nebraska along the riverfront. What this means is that if the water hits a flood level of 45 feet, the plant will shut down. There is nothing about the plant "refusing" to shut down, that is not the case at all. This is another bogus conspiratorial statement made in the same manner as pahunk and realone all too often post. The Ft. Calhoun plant was never started back up because of worries about the flood, and they briefly lost the pumps for the spent fuel cooling facility. There is no "radiation release" or any other situation that warrants the stuff being said in this and one other topic by certain people.
