Hi hausboy,
Actually you would be suprised on how many people use condom caths for things like OTR trucking, Poker players, Football games, and more

Tazzy called me out for being irresponsible for recommneding the condom catheter could be worn for long periods of time. And that might have been her training in a medical facility. I cannot speak to what training she may have. I can prove what most manfacturers recommend, and that is once per day. I do not want anyone to take my word for it. Here are two manfacturers instructions for condom caths clearly stating once per day. I encourage everyone to do their own research.

Additionally I did state there is a debate among doctors and RN's on how long a condom cath can should be worn. Here is one of those debates. And the range goes from 12 hours to 2 days. This debates centers around patients with spinal cord injuries. As most people who have spinal cord injuries usually suffer from some form of incontinence. Remember I said I had a series of back surgeries a long time ago. So I was one of those people. This data specifically relates to outpatients only as they wanted to keep seperate people who are hospitalized versus the more active person. Here is the study results:
http://www.spinalcord.uab.edu/show.asp?durki=21450

The other issue brought up is skin break down due to being in contact with the urine. Lippencott's nursing procedures book (by Lippincott, Wilkens and Williams), a well know nursing book, states for condom catheters, page 142 "It has no contraincidations but can cause skin irratations and edema." So even a well known nursing book is saying your chance of getting a skin infection due to using this device is almost non-existant. You can find a copy of the book on Google. Here is the link. Look under Male Incontinence Device
http://books.google.com/books?id=fhYoKc0bg-QC&pg=PA142&lpg=PA142&dq=what+is+the+risk+of+skin+infection+using+condom+catheters?&source=bl&ots=CLCPzUS2iI&sig=TQahGTgoq08C8hsEXzpDXPzB4JM&hl=en&ei=-CIGTr35OoH-sQLxkuDYDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CCoQ6AEwATgU#v=onepage&q&f=false

Then there was the issue of the tubing getting a twist or kinking and urine backing up. If the tubing does get kinked or blocked when the male urinates the condom catheter will swell like a ballon a little bit and then pop off. So this issue does not happen with a healthly male using a condom catheter.

Trying to compare people who uses condom catheters while being hospitalized versus the active healthly adult male with a simple incontinence problem is not a fair comparison. And maybe this is where some of the differences of opinions comes from between Tazzy and I. And maybe I should have made that context a little clearer.

I hope I have opened some people's eyes to alternatives for longer play. I feel it is safe for BDSM play. I think I have provided a lot of data and links that show it can be safe. But everyone must do their on research. In the USA condom catheters are readily available at any home medical supply store. The people in the store will gladly answer any questions you might have. Send and email to the manufacturer if you have a question.

So technique in removing it can be benifical.

Thanks, but it was painful for him to wear it...thats why I would be careful...as after all...ahem...I could not testdrive that myself...[;)]followed then by him experiencing the pain to get it off [&:]

Type of Urine Collection bag to use
What I would suggest is the type or bag that is called a leg bag. Leg bags are meant to be strapped to the leg of the wearer of the condom catheter. This allows the person to be mobile and do normal everyday activities. You can buy reusable ones or disposable ones. Obviously, I would recommend the disposable kind for sanitary reasons.

Things to look for in the leg bag. The quality disposable ones have a one way valve at the entry point. This only allows urine to pass one way into the urine collection bag and will not back up into the tubing connecting the condom catheter to the leg bag. Another nice feature is to get one with a bottom valve so the bag can be emptied. With these 2 features in the leg bag, the bag can easily be detached and emptied. A disposable bag can be reused over a single use setting, lets say 24 hours. Or said a better way, the disposable ones are designed to be emptied multiple times in a single use setting before discarding. One leg beg would be sufficient for a single day use even though you might have to empty to bag once or twice throughout the day evening.

In case anyone would really dare to wear it for longer or even overnight (you never know) I would like to add the advice, that if it isn't attached to the leg (e.g. whilst watching TV, or being asleep or so) to place it in a bowl...cause yes, they are meant to be strong enough to hold it's fluid, but quite frankly, once in a while their manufacturing can go wrong, too...

in that matter...[sm=mop.gif]

I'm talking out of experience [8|][>:][&o]

Well I cannot blame you for not wanting to try it again. If it was not a pleasureable experience, why go back for a 2nd round? I totally understand that. All I can say is that it should not be painful to wear one. It should feel no different that wearing a condom. But yunna, half the fun in life is exploring new things. Too bad this one was not a good experience for you two.
