rawtape could you please clarify a point for me? How big is the sample group of rhesus monkeys? Have the experiments your colleague performed been on a single rhesus monkey or on a number? If it's the latter and the results have been replicated then it seems reasonable to form broader conclusions than basing claims on results achieved with a single monkey.

TB, several experiments, examining different facets of the hypothesis were performed. Each individual experiment involved at least 3 rhesus monkeys. And the different experiments all supported the primary hypothesis, thus providing a degree of replication.

I'd actually forgotten how old some of these experiments were -- 1991 and earlier -- a year or more before I even started grad school.
