Right now, Republicans all over the United States are touting Rick Perry as the “Republican messiah” that is going to come charging in to save America from the presidency of Barack Obama./snip At one time I liked the guy. But I think he is a phony.

Yeah prison planet is definitely a red flag....but then again so is any article that lists just 14 reasons why Perry would be a disaster in the White House.Sheesh my 14 year old nephew could come up with more reasons off the top of his head at the dinner table.

For me it all comes down to Cameron Todd Willingham and Perry's inaction on 2/16/2004. Anyone that callous with human life has no business in elective office.

Rick Perry only wants the power and influence. He has shown he truly hates America when he mentioned that Texas could secceed. Same goes for the wicked witch from Alaska. How can even right wingers who clainm to love this country support seccessionists?

He says he does not believe in federal money then has his hands out. During katrina- he was kind to take the refugees from that flood. So I thought he was a good leader then. However knowing how crappy TX medicaid is- I now think differently.

People in states talk of seceding. Governors and their families should not do so. If they believe in secession, they should not be in elected office.

People here in Mexico were pretty excited by Perry's call to secede. They see the irony that would occur with Texas first seceding and then in a generation being majority Hispanic which would likely lead to Texas rejoining Mexico. The irony is that's how Texas became a part of the US... it was overloaded with illegal immigrants from the north who pushed for and got a revolution followed by them joining the union. Maybe if Perry becomes President he'll give Mexico back all of the western states that the US stole from Mexico.... that'd be fun to watch.

^ the Texas is the only state that is a state via treaty- that renews annually. Texas was once its own country. Texas could easily secede simply by not renewing its annual treaty. I doubt it would want to be part of Mexico. It has too much to lose... the other thing is that secession does not mean denounciation of the US- any form of secession could be a case where the sum of the parts is greater then the whole. The federal government was meant to be a consensus- not from order on high- command and control.

Texas only became a state due the machinations of Americans .Most historians will agree with a certain amount of Machiavellian maneuvering was afoot between Sam Houston and President Jackson to ferment the uprising that led to Texas becoming a Republic and ultimately a State. But don't take my word for it....look it up,it is all there for the seeing
