'Jackass' star died from crash's impact, fire

quote:

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — "Jackass" daredevil Ryan Dunn and his passenger died from the impact of the violent car crash and the resulting fire, according to a coroner's report Tuesday.
The Chester County coroner listed blunt force trauma and thermal trauma as the official causes of death for both men. Toxicology results will take four to six weeks to complete, coroner's office spokeswoman Patty Emmons said.

A preliminary examination of the crash site suggested that Dunn's Porsche might have been traveling more than 100 mph (160 kph) in the 55 mph (89 kph) zone when it jumped a guardrail, flew into a wooded ravine, struck a tree and burst into flames.

It seems such a waste....

Perhaps that's how he wanted to go. Dunno about the passenger though.

The 34-year-old Dunn and passenger Zachary Hartwell died early Monday, shortly after leaving a pub in West Chester where Dunn had tweeted a photo of the pair and a third man drinking just hours before the crash. The photo has since been taken down.

This from Radar about Hartwell

Zachary Hartwell the 30-year-old passenger killed in Jackass sar Ryan Dunn's sports car, was a former Navy Gunner's Mate who had been on two tours of Iraq, RadarOnline.com has learned.

I heard that he wrecked-- I did not realize he was going that fast.   PA roads it is hard to go that speed....their humor ... gets annoying that whole jackass thing...   maybe one good joke for every 5-10 lame gross ones.

Even with out drinking- the roads in  PA are not designed for 100 mph.   They can be poorly designed aside from the hills and turns.  His age- and daredevil attitude I am sure worked against him.

Oh, yes. The guy whose greatest claim to fame was having shoved a toy car up his ass, then gone to the ER with a bullshit story, and kept the x-ray as a souvenir. Did anybody ever doubt he was on his way to a Darwin Award?

I hope they were killed outright in the crash, rather than being finished off by the fire.

Okay, judging by his twitter posts not even 2 hours before the wreck, he was VERY obviously drinking. As in, he's drinking in the pictures and looks rather shitfaced already. Frankly, I have no remorse for him. I say, good riddance. One less damned drunk driver on the road. I've lost too many people in my life to those fuckers, and most often THEY are the ones who walk away just fine.

I have lost someone dear to me from a drunk driver too, I still think it is a waste of life... not only his own, but his passenger who survived two tours in Iraq. I think sometimes the Jackass guys think they really are invincible, and maybe this will give their fans who celebrate their stupidity something to think about

Oh, now that I agree with. I do feel bad about the passenger, even though he should have known to not get into that car with a drunk driver to begin with. There is a big difference between being a drunk passenger and a drunk driver. I've been a drunk passenger MANY times. Never once behind the wheel though. Nor a passenger with an impaired driver. Perhaps I just have better judgement than those two though. Again, I do sympathize with the family of the passenger and the passenger as well. But not the driver by any means.

Here's thing. I have driven at insane speeds just for thrill of it many times, in cars nowhere near as capable as this. I have not done it after drinking (four wheeling in muddy fields doesn't count), and never at the ragged edge with a passenger on board.

One guy drove this thing to a bar. Another guy got into it with him, leaving a bar. They made choices that didn't work out.

Like I said, I hope they didn't suffer.

I just don't quite know what I want to say to this. First of all, thank gods that they didn't kill other people on the road when they went. I've driven in excess of 100mph a whole lot in my time, but I was always sober when I did it. On the other hand, in he 60's & 70's while I was still drinking, I thought nothing of getting behind the wheel while intoxicated. It was only toward the end of my drinking that I got sane about that.

I am one of the fortunate ones who never hurt anybody including myself with my stupid behavior. He was not that fortunate. I feel sorry for everyone involved, the driver, the passenger, the families & friends who are left behind to mourn the loss. There but for the grace...................

Thank you, Julia. I am quite enraptured with Mr. Cohen's poetry. The way that he expresses things just speaks so loudly to me.
