I dont want to necro that thread so if you want to see what ate him, giant Isopod and hagfish are 2 good things to google.

As for which direction it is facing? When you drop something in a coupla thousand feet of water, it's pretty random what direction it will face when it lands.

They wrap them in a shroud, weight the body heavily, put them on a board, say a few words appropriate to their faith and slide em over the side.

There is no grave. There is no hole in the ground. There is no marker.
