should I remove them?  nostril piercing remains, regardless..but I am seriously thinking of removing all genital and nipple jewelry..

just curious what others think?

I think it is entirely up to you.

And now I will explain...

Only you know how important they are to you. Only you know the impression of the person you are that you want others to see.

As with tattoos, piercings may have some personal significance to you that we are unaware of. So for any of us to comment, without that knowledge, makes no sense.

You know, better than us, the sort of people you want in your life and what that sort of person may or may not find attractive/acceptable. You know, better than us, if others' acceptance of your choices are more important than you wanting to be accepted.

Not really an answer, but a thought process I would use to come up with the answer.

GreedyTop -> RE: 48 yrs old, single - piercings? leave them in or... (6/22/2011 9:17:30 AM)

There is no real significance other than, at the time, I wanted it done.  NONE  of my piercings are attached to anyone else.

Same with the tats.. ALL of them were for ME, nobody else.

the only reason I plan to keep the nostril piercing is that, of them all, it's the only one I truly enjoy, and I can get away with in any professional situation I may encounter.

Shit .. theres my answer... LOl

trash the ones that really mean nothing other than vanity, keep the one that PLEASES ME wihtout vanity being a factor....

wow.. that was quick and simple.. Thanks, LaT (you yummylicious woman!!  scritches to Mo and the other fuzzybutts~!)

I have ONE below the neck piercing left and that sucker is staying IN until it decides to migrate. Which it seems to want to do some days, after 15 yrs. hmph.

needlenose pliers will help with that, Hibbie..*grin*

GT- I am not a big fan of piercings.   These young people are in for a shock when the body ages and one is not a beauty queen anymore.  It happens to all of us.   We negotiate with fate.

What ever you do- do it with grace and elegance- treat YOU as if you have tremendous value.

thx, Hunky.. thus the title about being almost 50....
I aint the skinny young thing I was when I got the piercings done, and since they were done  FOR myself back then... *shrug*

some folks think theyre still worth keeping..

but.. I think, for the time being I will keep the mismatched nip rings, ditch the labia things...

as far as the OMG! WTF HAPPENED stuff.. gawd, I have more than 15 tats...

I'm wondering where the labia piercings factor into a "professional situation"![8D]

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: 48 yrs old, single - piercings? leave them in or... (6/22/2011 2:39:47 PM)

I used to take my tongue ring out for work, but I've had it long enough that I can leave it out for 24 hours before it starts to close, so I'd take it out before work and put it back in when I was finished for the day.  Now that I work from home, it's a moot point.  Barring complications that would require me to remove them permanently, I'm taking my piercings to my grave.  (I'm 40.)

If you want to remove them, go ahead.  If not, don't.  For me, it's a "love me, love my body mods" situation.  I got them for myself and anyone who wants to be involved with me on any level is just going to have to cope.

Lose the nipple bling....I've always found it to get in the way during "playtime" as for the rest that's up to you....just my [sm=2cents.gif]

btw....you are still one fine looking female!  [;)]

Greedy, I don't think it has to do with age; more with attitude and confidence.

As you said, professional concerns aside (in my business I could NEVER have anything visible if I had any), do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

The question reminds me of people who used to say all older women should cut their hair; that has certainly changed.

It is all about you and how you feel about yourself.

LadyPact -> RE: 48 yrs old, single - piercings? leave them in or... (6/22/2011 6:51:19 PM)

I'd keep them just for the fact that I paid to have them done and for the jewelery.  I'm a bottom line person like that.

it does seem like a waste.

but the trend part could be considered... sort of how pony tails for men were popular then it just went away--  goatees came and went-    more regional then national in trends.

I dont have any tats but I have a tongue piercing and a clit hood piercing. I got them a couple of years ago because someone I was involved with wanted me to get them, he thought they were sexy. I am not with him any longer now tho.

I wont remove them since I went to all the darn trouble of getting them done, fainted badly at the first one, the pain from swelling, etc. I think the chance of getting into a relationship with a guy that likes piercings and thinks they are sexy, a turn on and stimulating is fairly high so why take them out??? Only a small % of men are anti-tongue piercing and some guys love the feeling of it. I do like the way my clit hood piercing looks even tho it is just for decoration. Maybe I will find a guy that can change the jewelry for me so I can enjoy that aspect of it (I dont dare take my jewelry off cuz its so hard for me to put them back in).

Even if the jewelry is removed, you still have the hole & dimple and it might stay open forever, so even without the jewelry, you still have the "presence" of a piercing, imo. Kwim?

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: 48 yrs old, single - piercings? leave them in or... (6/22/2011 10:34:20 PM)

I lost the ball to the barbell in my left nipple & took it out. Then when I had my MRI, they made me take out the right nipple jewelry. I've thought of getting them re-pierced but not sure I want to go through that again. Since I didn't get them pierced until I was 62 years old, I really don't see where age has anything to do with piercing. So do what you want to do & fuck a bunch of people who think you're too old.
