She had some comprehensive hearing test- a 50 page report- now they say an MRI. Due to a brain aneurysm.  She tends to be a worrywart- and ....over emphasizes anything medically going on with anybody.  However this looks serious and I am worried.

Does anyone have experience with this?

they are somewhat common actually, as are thoraxic and abdominal aneurysms.

either surgury or they actually have like clips and stents they can put in there now.

it is serious, sure, but not end of the world stuff, fix it and on to the next thing.

It seems to me my gram has had one for like 40 years....

The neighbor does not act odd.  He comments and actions have not alarmed me.  She is 77.   I spend alot of time over there, and never noticed anything that would alarm me... standard aging issues.   She is actually more together then some 40 year olds I know.

http://www.brainaneurysm.com/aneurysm-symptoms.html  hmm.  She only gets the dizziness..  She does not get the other symptoms... either she misunderstood - or I did.

If they are scheduling an MRI instead of rushing her to the ER, I would quit worrying.

Due to a brain aneurysm.

If she smokes, she ought to stop smoking immediately.

Have her take vitamin C (as plain as possible) before she sleeps and when she rises.

When she goes to the lavatory, have her read there for another ten minutes after she is done. (It might give her blood time to clot repair any small fractures that were made.)

No chocolate not any other sweets. Preferably no fruits nor vegetables either.

Back in the day when I worked in the blood bank of a hospital, we were not allowed to say the "A" word, because if you did, you'd jinx the day and one would come in. Someone in the ER or OR with one that blew is an absolute nightmare for the blood bank techs. Typing and crossmatching units as fast as you can, doctors on the phone yelling for you to do it faster, sprinting down the hallways with ready units, calling the Red Cross and area hospitals for more units, going through 30, 40, 50 units and the patient still dies......yeesh. Not a good time.

To this day, I cringe when I hear the word. But yes, caught early, they can be treated. But if you're ever told you have one, don't put off getting the treatment.

They're not to be treated lightly.  But at 77, a clipping/stenting/interventional procedure may be the "one procedure too far".  It may be that she'd be better off with very good control of her blood pressure, and avoiding vigorous activity.

It's not contagious. We all die. Just help and whatever. There is not much hope for an aneuism short of surgery, and it ain't hapenin unless she is in government, like the Pres or a senator or some shit. Even the better private health care will not do it. I doubt super blue would do it, and super blue is about the best us unwashed masses can get.

If you like her just get her what she wants and whatever you do, don't try to pique her blood pressure. If she says anyhting about a headache get a towel, dowse it with cold water and apply to forehead (SLOWLY). Other than that there's nothing you can do, unless you are a brain surgeon or something.

The problem with this is that is is literally brain surgery, it is worse than doing a triple bypass. Too many mistakes possible. They'll do it for politicians because they know it's not a big deal to fuck up their brain. Plus the operation costs around $800,000 or so.

Whatever.

She seldom gets headaches.   For 77, she is active-  well- she shops and just took the neighbor kid to church.  Understand that she gets all dolled up - nails and hair are always done, she wears dresses and dresses like an elegant LADY.   Never jeans or pant suits.

I am spoiled-  because about 9 months ago-  we started having dinners together.  She is a decent cook.   She can carry  a conversation.

So no headaches.
