I guess I'm just curious what kind of homemade gifts anybody has given/received. Any favorites? What would you like to receive

The best reactions I received were from a set of different vinyl toys I customized (Munny and friends!) and a book where I made the paper, wrote the story, drew the pictures, made a leather cover and bound it all...

For Christmas I do a LOT of home made gifts.

During the growing season I pick, make and can applesauce. I have been told it is the BEST applesauce in the world. Obviously a gross over statement but there are a lot of people that would be hugely bummed if they didn't get it. Like wise with home made preserves. Strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, raspberry and blackberry. I also do fudge and pralines along with whatever else I am in the mood to do. Sometimes cookies, quick breads, last year some old fashioned British style fruit cake was a huge hit.

I am a photographer and have my camera with me a lot. No one loves anything more than a well framed photo of someone they love. Especially if it is a great photo. I've also done photo books. A huge hit for my son who spent most of 6 months away from his sons. It was something he could toss into his bag and take along.

What I am saying is take your strengths and find a way to make something special that speaks to the person.

I've never received any gifts for Fathers' Day. This has saddened me in the past; however, I've consoled myself with the observation that I'm not a father.

I make apple butter yearly and chocolate almond biscotti that everyone says I should charge for.
The Man prefers an apple pie to almost anything else.

If I knitted, then I would make him a sweater.

I've never made anything for my parents either, but for other folks...

I'm not good at making things, but I do design things well. I have often designed clothing, jewelry, wall hangings, etc. and then taken them to someone else and had them made for me.

I make scrapbooks for people sometimes. They are generally a big hit - I do them really messy, and I DON"T use all that frou frou stuff from craft stores. I use all kinds of stuff - napkins, stickers, confetti, coffee cup sleeves, dried flowers, business cards, take out menus, hand tracings, etc. I even have been known to use a coffee stain. :) I like that kind of mess!

Have fun whatever you do!
