Since the blanket says "hand washable", a large jug or two should be enough. You have to really soak down/immerse the spot for it to work. It works so well because it has enzymes that actually change the chemical composition of the ammonia so that it CAN'T smell, lol.

(If your cats are female or neutered males, you'll have a better chance of getting rid of the smell. Non-neutered male urine is harder.)

I saw that product on line, but I wasnt sure if it would work. They have one specifically for cats. And both cats are female. What must have happened was Lilly is a nervous sort. I know cats spray on their owners scent when they are aggitated, it has some kind of calming effect on them. Anyways we moved over a year ago, and I have had it stored in a tupperware tub since the move. Lilly must have become aggitated while we were packing to move. Seems she has adopted me!

This worked for spilled kerosene on my car seat....

Coffee grounds (dry/unused). Get a cheap brand and scrub it into the affected areas. Coffee absorbs odors even better than baking soda, and is much easier to use for scrubbing.

Downside....may discolor your blanket. Be advised.

You could also hang it outside for like forever. In time, the smell will dissipate. The sun may fade the colors.

when the resident cat pissed all over a pile of clean cloths, i called my sister who is a crazy cat lady and she said to add 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar to the normal wash. voifuckingla! worked like a fucking charm for me.

Im just not too sure how well an electric blanket will hold up in a washing machine.

Sam's Club (which i happen to hate for most things) has a sells a nifty product called OdoBan, its amazing and much better than Fabreeze. Soak the blanket in that a few hours, change water, add more OdoBan to the wash water and some to the rinse as well. I would also use the spray nozzle and give the blanket a good spraying once it dries to be on the safe side.

I had a cat use my bed as a toilet once, he was made at me for not being around working 2 jobs the OdoBan did the trick, both cats sleep on my bed, but neither of them use it otherwise. And i didn't have to replace a 2 yr. old mattress.
