ORIGINAL: erieangel OK, I am extremely disappointed in Obama. I mean I campaigned for this guy. I went door-to-door registering people to vote at a time when I could hardly walk. I was at his campaign office every day by 8 am out at noon to go to work, then stopping by the campaign office again at 9:30 on my way home. I am disappointed in Obama because he has failed to close Gitmo (a key measure he campaigned on), he gave us a crappy health reform bill by taking a public option off the table before any negotiations even started, and he has extended almost every one of Bush's policy errors. But to call Obama the "food stamp" president and claim it is because he doesn't care that unemployment is so high is just out and out stupid. But then this is Gingrich we are talking about. Gingrich and the rest of the regressive party (they do want to take us back to the 1850s or further) will stop at nothing to change history and make us all forget that Bush was the one who crashed the economy. They would like for us to forget that 12 years of tax cuts to the wealthy did nothing to create or even save jobs, but it sure added to the deficit when the government needed it the most. And they would mostly like for us to forget that as much as the deficit exploded under Reagan, that man, at least, was mature enough to say, ok, this isn't working, we need to raise revenue'. In Reagan's 8 years, he raised taxes a total of 10 times!! But the regressive party would like us to forget that. 'What? they say, Ray-gun never raised taxes, he cut taxes, he cut government, he cut spending.' Some of us know better. quote:

Why are you surprised by Obama's failings? This is why I voted for Clinton in the primaries; she never thought she could get something done that was completely unrealistic, given the crazy Christian conservatives in this country. However, you are 100% correct--Who has ever heard Obama even mention food stamps? It's shameless race baiting. Just like Newt pouted in the back of Air Force One during the Clinton administration, shutting down the gov't and becoming one unpopular mofo as a result, he has a tin ear when it comes to running for President. No worries with him. And hey, at least he called Paul Ryan's plan out for what it was--"extreme right wing social engineering."
