Looks like the romantic kiss wasn't so romantic after all. This crap makes me sick.

I made an error in creating the tread. Here is the link.

Its been over the news here.. The RCMP are looking into it.
Interesting that I looked down to the bottom of the page to find the same information about the woman being charged.
Thanks for the link Erie

You are welcome. I do have to learn how to embed things better don't I.

Don't feel to sorry for this couple. Since this video went 'viral', it is estimated that they will make close to 10 million dollars. They have of course hired an attorney and a PR firm. I would say only in America, but it happens every where. Make hay while the sun shines as the farmers say.

Yes, don't feel bad for the woman who got beaten by police, cash makes it all better eh?

The video shows that it's after dark. The rioting started during daylight. So wtf were they still doing out in it? Why didn't they leave and go home? If they were so "innocent" what were they doing there? And from the video I saw, I didn't see any of the police beating the two who were knocked to the ground. It looked more like they were pushed along via the shields the police were carrying.

Edwynn -> RE: ?akid=7164.286161.cipme3&id=624727&rd=1&t=5 (6/25/2011 8:51:37 PM)

Yes, don't you know? Every instance of protester beating is actually premeditated and contrived by the victim in the hope for financial gain.

How deaf are you? You can hear the nightsticks cracking on her starting at 0.06 in the clip. And not hard to see, either.

Have you ever been hit by one of those things just once? They are nasty, for a reason.

The violence started when the police started pushing and swinging, and any violence from that was of their own doing.

The couple and others in the crowd were neither "innocent" nor "guilty," they were expressing their right to address grievances with out doing harm to others, and any silly notion of day or night time allowance for that is just that; silly.

How deaf am I? You certainly like to toss out personal insults, don't you?

Out of the sounds on the video, there was also a barking dog, but it was nowhere to be seen. You can't seriously attribute a noise you heard on a video of a scene with a myriad of noises coming from multiple directions to be the cracking of a "nightstick". And no, the video is too grainy to clearly see exactly what is taking place, not to mention that four of them (two police officers, two civilians) all bunched up together. But I understand that you see what you want to see.

I can't believe that you don't understand why I brought up the day and night part of it. Hello!! The riots started during daylight. The police asked everyone to go home. The couple, amongst many others, chose not to go home, which is evident by the fact that the footage showed it was after sunset and hence, long after they would have been asked to leave the area. Since they had the opportunity to leave and didn't, they have no one but themselves to blame for getting caught up in the fray once the riot police showed up.

Some people like to sensationalize, like the person who put up the video linked by the OP.

Here is the real truth, as told by the two involved.

I can't believe that you advocate police violence towards a legal protest.

What right did the police have to 'tell everybody to go home' in the first place?
Hello!

Is peaceful protesting illegal in Canada? It is in China, and police tell them to 'go home' there too.

When the police sweep down the street knocking everybody down in action against a legal proceeding, one might expect 'incidents' to occur, misunderstandings and all.

DeviantlyD -> RE: ?akid=7164.286161.cipme3&id=624727&rd=1&t=5 (6/26/2011 4:16:25 AM)

Peaceful protesting???? Are you and I talking about the same event? This was idiotic rioting at its most stupid. The police told people to go home in attempt to diffuse an already violent situation started by young adult (?) males who were probably drunk.

Edited to add:

This was not a legal protest by any definition. Do you even know what happened?

Edwynn -> RE: ?akid=7164.286161.cipme3&id=624727&rd=1&t=5 (6/26/2011 4:25:20 AM)

Ooops. Sorry, I did in fact miss that this was part of the hockey riots.

You people are nuts, no need to explain the rest of it to me. The most hostile posters on this site are from there, though fortunately not totally representative. But serious anger issues there, nonetheless.

I've just seen so many recent actions against legitimate protests in both the US and Canada that I tossed that one into the same hat.

Sorry.

Pot, meet Kettle, LMAO

Your pot is darker than my kettle.

Or is it the other way around?

Who can keep up with this anymore.

I even forget if this is another feather of fish or a horse of a different kettle.

Lucylastic -> RE: ?akid=7164.286161.cipme3&id=624727&rd=1&t=5 (6/26/2011 6:04:03 AM)

talk about sweeping generalisations..I thought I would just show you a mirror into your soul.
what is your excuse for being so hostile?
I try to keep hostilities confined to P&S
Where I try to treat people as they treat me. you attack first, you wont do it ever again without me being the same way. Simple.
Be respectful or courteous, you get respect, friendship and smiles and warmth back by the bucket load...
IF you wanna be a douche, I can play just fine.
you only have yourself to blame.

Edwynn -> RE: ?akid=7164.286161.cipme3&id=624727&rd=1&t=5 (6/26/2011 6:08:34 AM)

My immediate previous response had every intention of humour and downplaying of hostility. I thought that the 'horse of a different kettle' joke would have been the give-away there

Sorry if the intention was missed.

it was missed... play on
makes more sense reading it a third time, my aplogies

No problemo.

I am in fact every bit as guilty of jumping to wrong conclusions on occasion. Your accusations are not entirely incorrect.  We interact and we learn. Thank you for your participation in everything here.
