Yeah those were the days. Looking back, I can't imagine how I made it through...especially when I met with an counsellor and was told that I would need 9 more years of school to get a Psych degree. I couldn't imagine 9 more minutes let alone 9 years. Needless to say that isn't my line of work but it has come in handy dealing with the public.

I have done so. Yet, it is sometimes necessary to say things in writing where it can be read and reread and then perhaps the message is better understood and listing a few more facts will perhaps clear up any miss-understandings and to be honest, writing things down also helps me clarify things in my mind be it of this nature or of some other circumstance in personal as well as business life. Besides, it happens to be the best advice written here because it comes from knowledge lacking from a few lines of the opening post. Think about it. Besides, just because I do live with her and do know her best does not mean I cannot post advice related to the OP;

It beats coming on here and writing meaningless and empty insults. Because I posted more facts and insight than anyone else could I am in your words:

  • an idiot.
  • attention whore
  • asshole

You can do better.

Now that more and more universities have online registration, advisor approval has become: take a quick scan of each student's course of study this semester, and see if it makes sense. If it doesn't, email and ask them what's up.

As the head academic advisor, I have sent many of those emails, which busy students sometimes ignore. There's nothing like having the director of academics at your door when you get out of class saying: "I sent you email and you ignored it."

University administration is fraught with paperwork, approvals and signatures (or signature POWER). You would not believe all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes to get one single student to graduate with one degree.

At the graduate school level, where I worked, students have more flexibility on some levels, with a commensurate level of necessary approvals needed to get them through the program.

When people asked me what I did, I used to say: I make PHDs. There is a reason I don't do that anymore !!

It makes sense to me in a way to not discipline someone elses kids, if your not comfortable going there. to me it's not, not liking them, or not wanting them, it's feeling that it's not your place to do so.

omg there is always stuff to fill out. Most of my classes where online from the college i attended, BUT they were always calling me into school for more paperwork. I did have a staff member who i had her direct line that made it much easier. It is almost impossible now adays to get a question answered by just one phone call.

Hold please,.... ok let me transfer you to that department,...when we are done here ill transfer you to that department and then she will transfer you back here so we can finalize this, and then youll only need to come in and sign at this department and then over to that department.... easy peezy!!!!

Tammy...i assume you entered a degree program for the nursing degree...and while working on your nursing degree you just happened to earn a bachelors degree in psych?

Well. . . aren't the first two years of any baccalaureate program pretty much the same? I think that you would be able to get a double major. If you stretched it out to five or six years you could probably do it easily. I am not really sure though. Aren't there nurse psychologist type people? (I have no idea what the technical title would be.)

Sure, but degree programs of any type tend to be tight fit straitjackets. (I used to be in university administration.) Even undergrads need permissions to take classes outside of their degree program. The only exception is if you are not even in a degree program, then you can take what you want, but you are going to be at the bottom of the priority list as far as getting into a specific class, b/c you don't need the class to get a degree.

Universities these days are all about processing undergrad AND graduate students through the program so they can maintain or even improve retention and graduation rates. I directed a graduate level program for years (200 MS students; 300 PHD), and I can assure you, PHD students (who have the most flexibility in terms of what classes they get to take, well depending on their program of study they CAN have) are carefully monitored to ensure they are progressing along the required steps toward their degree.

I am not saying you can't get both a nursing and psychology degree on the undergrad level, of course you can. What I *am* saying is that would have to be planned out in advance and approved by your advisor.

Ah. . . you are objecting to the whole "falling into a psychology degree" thing while working on the nursing. I can see the problem with that. Yeah, I agree, that sort of thing just doesn't happen like finding a dime in the parking lot.

Dear arty,

In case you've not been introduced, there is this lovely little invention called E-MAIL. It is relatively new I know, but it is a lovely little treasure of an invention. It allows you to send personal messages.......well.......to a person! An individual. It can be delightfully private and kept indefinitely. No one else has to read it. You don't have to pay a pilot to write it in the sky, for it to be effective. You simply get on the internet via this thing called a computer, go to something like yahoo.com and you too can create a personal email account that is alllllllllllllllllllll yours. Check with tammy but I am 100% certain she has a personal email account alllllllllll of her own and it is likely (or not.......) that she will give you her email address so that you too, can send personal emails declaring your undying devotion to her and the most WONDERFUL aspect of the whole thing.....

It can remain a deliciously private exchange.

Not to put too fine a point on it, the post is completely narcissistic

You accuse me of being narcissistic simply because I write with a healthy ego that comes from experience and confidence in what I do and say. Besides, you write as if being a narcissist is somehow negative when that is not simply not true.

Since this seems to be your favorite word this week, Let's define what we mean here:
Narcissism is the personality trait of egotism, vanity, conceit, or simple selfishness. Since opening my house up to others cannot be selfish then the most you can accuse me of is egotism, vanity, conceit and all of those have a welcome place in any dominant personality. So, basically you are calling me a Dom.

But, as it applies to a social group, it is sometimes used to denote elitism or an indifference to the plight of others.
This reminds me of you know who, CM Gorean.

Cute. But what else can you say in light of reason and truth?

And, why be private now? That's a little like closing the barn door after the horse is out.

Got it. Tammy washed all her dirty linen in public, so you have to do the same, b/c gawd forbid one of you should fail to respond like a six year old.

Alrighty then !!

This is not a reality show for your entertainment. This is real people with real postings and real life problems and solutions. That's what this is all about. This is not personal drama. Sometimes being a fool for one's love is needed, if that is what you think is happening here, but I don't think it foolish, I think having the confidence to talk about one's problems without being afraid of little ole post reply like this is something I hope to never lack.

The only differences I can see........ A. it is via your's and Tammy's fingertips, not television and B. I doubt you are getting paid.

Work provides the commercial interruptions.

Well that depends on why you have the others there, and how you treat them. But more particularly, I'm very much looking forward to comments on your claim that "egotism, vanity, and conceit" find "a welcome place in any dominant personality." Because I feel reasonably confident that a complete narcissist would be the worst possible Dom, much though it might feed his egotism, vanity, and conceit to style himself as one.

No. I wrote: Tammy, while you were alone, sick and without help your kids learned to lack discipline and it will take a long and consistant approach to correcting it and it won't happen in the relatively short time we have been together. Love you always.

A complete narcissist loves only themselves and clearly that is not me. A complete narcissist would not bother to come on here at all and write a thing to people he does not know and will never see and from whom he will never receive anything of substance. Most Doms and most leaders are narcissists so keep calling me one.
