First let me say I support your refusal to stand for Cuban national anthem.  But I have to ask one question and point out one fact.  Who informed the press?  If they didn't know they couldn't rant.  This was in the 70's  talk radio didn't exist then on any real level.

And why are you afraid to say which game this Cuban Anthem was played at?




I don't say who it was played by because it was over 20 years ago.  I do remember the Orioles were one team as they had spring training in miami.  I do not remember the other.

The stadium was about a mile from the Orange Bowl and was torn down about the time they built the Miami arena.

re: the Cuban National Anthem:

It is the national anthem of a communist country.

It is aproved and beloved by the Castro brothers.

If the Cuban national team is not playing, I will NOT rise for it.

Would you stand for the Mexican National Anthem at a game between say the Yankees and Indians played in Cleveland or would you consider it a national insult?

Late 80's Bama.  They were celebrating the awarding of an MLB franchise to miami.  Rush was on the radio out of Palm Beach and just hitting his stride and becoming entertaining.  I was semi surprised when he didn't pick up on it then figured out why.

There were a few rumbling letters to the editor in "The Herald" which were pretty much shouted down but "El Nuevo Herald" was incredibly supportive.

The anthem long predates the Communists, and is the Anthem of the Cuban People.


Since you are unwilling to give details about the game, we can't examine what you are talking about. You have conceeded it was a special event (Held by MLB for some reason).


I don't think it compares to jeering the National Anthem in the USA.


Or illegal immigration.

Nearly 20% of LA's workforce are illegal aliens and HALF of the births in LA are to undocumented women.

The OP concerned Pat Buchanan lamenting that "you can write off LA" because of their disrespect for the national anthem (which I agree was abhorrent) and their announcements being in Spanish for the game.  I agree.  This is the US.  Speak fucking English.

My point is.  Close attention kiddies.  Where was the hue and cry when the same thing was happening in miami?

The same utter contempt for US law, language and culture.

There wasn't one.  Would you like to know why children?

Citizens of Mexican descent almost overwhelmingly vote for Democrats.

Citizens of Cuban descent overwhelmingly vote for Republicans.

The Buchanans and Limbaughs and Hannitys and Becks can't afford to upset such a large bunch of voters and wealthy RNC donors so they get a free pass.

Pay attention, whoever programmed the hilliebot. PB's lament was NOT for the disrespect for the anthem, it was just an anecdote illustrating the real problem. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. ILLEGAL, GET IT?
