So I got some rope in the mail from Xtreme restraints and trying to do the Kikkou (Tortoise Shell). I believe its called. Not only was I trying to like in the picture with some half assed directions http://www.japanrope.com/tutorial7/tutorial7-t.html I was also trying to do it safely, ya know most of the basics with rope is common sense. Don't restrict blood flow, don't wrap anything tightly around your neck etc etc. I wish I had eys in the back of my head to help lol or someone else to help me. Anyway what was your first self/bondage (w/ partner) experinece like?

I've played around with self bondage, but I couldn't imaging doing self Shibari. This said, Shibari is a love of mine and has quite an effect on me. Being tied and wapped so restrictively sends me into a very deep sub state like a hypnotic trance. It's great.

rope is magic. i've tied myself up a few times, but mostly just breast bondage since they're in front of me and easy to reach. i have tied tortoise shells on myself before, too. i did it with crappy sisal rope that was scratchy yet wonderfully appealing. but there are other ties i can't do myself, but that i'd like to try, so doing it solo will always have some limitations.

You think Japanese rope bondage is hard wait until you see their algebra. I have never found Japanese rope bondage to be hard, (I also thought the Japanese language was easy too, it must be in the blood) but of course I have never tied myself up. Anywho I think you just need better Shibari book with better instructions. Just remember with self bondage, never put yourself into something you can't get out of extremely quickly.

something that's fairly simple can get confusing pretty fast when you're trying to do it yourself. =p anyway, as far as rope bondage books with instruction go, i've heard nothing but good about Douglas Kent's "land" and "sky" books. http://www.completeshibari.com/reviews.html
