Status: offline 		LA Mayor Ignores Outcry, Will Build 6-Foot Wall Around Mansion...

some here even build them 8 feet.   Seems odd that town only allows 40-ish inches.

Its all up to each city how high they allow fences, usually they can be taller in the back and shorter in the front. To find out you would contact your city's building dept to find out what the bylaw states, they will tell ya.

Then too, if there is an HOA, they likely dictate how high, and possibly what it can be made from and color too if they want.

Given that he is the freakin Mayor, I have a funny feeling he will get his variance and be able to build his fence.

That said, i like tall fences, the taller the better, but if they arent allowed tall enough, grow tall bushes and trees instead.

Status: offline 		I'm not sure what the height is. I do know when an organic farm put up 8 foot wire fences around the fields to keep out the deer, the neighbor tried to force them to remove it. She lost because she was complaining that the deer should be allowed to eat the crops and instead they had moved onto her yard. Somehow, that argument just didn't go over well. She could have fenced her little yard easily enough.

You can put up two four footers with four feet between and they can't jump that.

Status: offline 		I don't know about the town I live in now, but when I was growing up we were required by law to have a 6-foot fence around our yard because we had a swimming pool (basically they were afraid a kid would wander into the yard and fall in otherwise).
