I actually called the police last night because my neighbors were setting off fireworks that sounded like my house was exploding. I love fireworks, but that was ridiculous!! And it wasn't just one of those. This went on from about 8pm til about 2am. Of course the officers responding to the call did nothing but quiet things down for about an hour. Which is pretty much what I expected. If they run in their houses when they see the cop car, there isn't much the cops can do. But I wanted to feel like I'd done something, even if it was ineffective.

You're seriously complaining because some people are setting off fireworks? I guess you were absent the day God handed out a sense of fun.

As one of the hounds who jumped on poor sweet emily, I have to say that, since her first post was this, she brought it on her self.

And none of her posts that followed were exactly nice.

She missed the initial point of the OP altogether, and from there things took the express train to snarksville.

Well perhaps you'd be so kind as to point out just what was so vile about that particular post that it really justified the ensuing clusterfuck? She replied quite wittily to your rather witty snarkastic post about her social skills if you ask me, all in all a good exchange. You didn't get childish till post #40, guess you just couldn't resist, I know how that is, but still....to be so childish about a child being childish.....come on!

It's perception:

One person's wit is another's snark.

You found her witty; other people did not.

Think it through angelika, did you really expect her to just run away when she was told she was "sad" a pyromaniac, an ambulance chaser, or somebody who enjoyed natural disasters? Or did you think she'd rush to apologize to one and all for daring to state her view. Well she didn't do either, she gave back as good as she got, and good for her. In fact her reply was actually very restrained.

In fact, show me one post of hers that was out of line, without having been very clearly provoked. Even when she got snarky it wasn't all that bad, certainly not at the same level as the supposed "adults" ragging on her.

I think this is a clear case where two wrongs don't make a right. Your argument that she was justified in snarking when people took umbrage at her first post is just silly. She didn't read the OP with any understanding; she just told everyone off for not understanding what real fun is. The OP was a rant about people endangering her property & her having to spend her time watering down her fields so they didn't go up in flames due to someone's misguided idea of fun. I thought it was pretty much uncalled for, but I didn't respond last night as I didn't want to get involved in the back & forth bickering. Because how would that have helped? It would have just fanned the flames, as it were.

I thought that her first post was flippant & wasn't addressing the OP in any way.

No linn, my point is that she acted like a kid, and her excuse for doing so is that she is a kid. What are the other posters' excuse for their childish behaviour?

I'm excusing her for behaving like a mouthy 18 year old because she is one, and I do think she restrained herself rather admirably...you know damned well how very different a thread this would have been if it were me being drubbed...or God forbid Hannah.

Perspective folks, a little perspective. A kid is supposed to act like a kid, the adults aren't, and they certainly shouldn't be preaching adult behaviour while exhibiting even more childish behaviour than the kid.

It is obvious to me that young, cute lesbians can act any way they want to on here, and you will find it adorable. I understand that, really I do.

But....

She was being a little twit, from her first reply, proclaiming anyone who understood the frustrations Lisa was feeling as a no fun having, boring old fuddy duddy.

eta you are right, kids will be kids. Adults will also be adult and call them on something when they totally miss the point.

Dunno, you know if you're legally an adult and you are on an adult site, you're allowed to vote and all that, then you're not quite a kid.

I seriously don't see the funny bit about burning stuff down, risking fires, alright, maybe I am a bit touchy about it, but a mill roughly 1 mile away from where I live burned down 2 days ago, the fire could be contained and nobody died, but a couple of people are hospitalized with serious burns and smoke poisoning, and for a while it looked like the fire would spread, of course I am insured but sod the insurance, it's NOT funny having to worry if your home will burn down. Yeah, it's so funny to have wild fires, and so freaking amusing - ask the fire brigade who risk their necks how amusing they find it, ask all of us who are dealing with the lingering smell of smoke and the ashes, but yeah, greatly amusing...

Check out the amusement

http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1425392_video-firefighters-investigating-whether-people-were-inside-derelict-macclesfield-mill-ravaged-by-fire

I guess if I had a sense of humour I would just laugh about the fact that my house was in danger, because that's how I'm supposed to amuse myself...

Well you are either reading a different thread than I am, or you've been popping in on Steven's D&D free thread a little to frequently. The very first point I made was that she did indeed behave like a whiny little child. And Lisa's clarification/smack down of her first post was fine.  Explained where she was wrong about the OP, and supplied just enough snark/bite to snap back at Emily's snark/bite. This is good stuff, this is what the boards need.

She was being a little twit, from her first reply, proclaiming anyone who understood the frustrations Lisa was feeling as a no fun having, boring old fuddy duddy.
Here's where things went wrong. The rest of you responded to her by being little twits yourselves. It wouldn't have been so glaring a bit of hypocrisy except that while being childish little twits, you all beat your mighty chests and raved on about growing up and being an adult. Don't you see the problem here? You behaved more childishly than she did, and she is the child.

The issue isn't her behaviour, or my opinion of her, I don't know a thing about her except what she posted here and in the Canada thread. The issue is your behaviour. You acted like a bunch of 4th graders.

Ahem...This is an Adult website with Adult content and presumably if one is old enough to view it (i.e. legally an Adult) then one should be mature enough to not use the "but I am just a kid" excuse for snarky behavior...and that should no be reason to give someone a free pass.
So, since no one is in fact a kid let's not go there...

I understand natural differences in maturity levels, it was something that I frequently encountered in my last job when management would lament about the newly hired barely 20's behaving like barely 20's and not thirtysomethings. I would often have to remind the house manager that they simply were who they were.

OK, then to be proper grown ups, can we go and burn her house down "for that bit of fun" as apparently what she sees as fun is burning other people's property down and risking lives... Obviously all our fault because we didn't understand how much fun it is if somebody dies in a fire and weren't nice enough to somebody who's legally an adult on an adult website. Sheesh, do I need to make myself a profile of an 18 year old and then I got free reign to behave like an utter twat and if anybody disagrees with me, they're wrong?

I have read this "kid's" other posts & she seems to have a good head on her shoulders. I've not read anything else that she posted that is even remotely as stoopid as her first post on this thread. And no, I'm not going to excuse her childish behavior due to her age. She is on an adult website. She said something very childish & inflammatory--pardon the pun--then got more childish at the people pointing out how childish her post really was. At no point did she ever say, "Yeah, maybe that wasn't the smartest thing I've ever posted & maybe it isn't that funny to joke about people being endangered by fire." Which she certainly could have done. I'm not excusing anyone's childish behavior in this thread nor their personal attacks on each other. She said she was somewhere where her friends were drinking but she doesn't drink, so that's not why she used such poor judgment in her opening reply. Rather than us speculating about her & her motives, I'd really like to hear what she has to say about it.

Lots of people posted emotionally here last night. As I said, I'm not taking sides here nor excusing anyone's childish behavior nor their personal attacks on each other. I think it would have been a better discussion had someone simply pointed out how rude that sounded when she said that the folks here don't have any sense of fun. But maybe that's too much to ask. Lord knows I have been guilty of emotionally posting on certain subjects. Try as I might to disbelieve it, I am human also.

No need, you are already behaving like an utter twit and if anybody disagrees with you, they are wrong. This is your standard modus operendi of late.

No where did Emily ever say she was advocating burning down anybody's property or risking lives. You made that bit up. In her reply to you, where you first implied she did favour such things, she referenced the Mythbusters, who do indeed make a point of blowing something up on almost every episode, and bonfires.

No mention of burning down buildings or lighting fields on fire. Accept it LadyC, you behaved like a grade schooler. Rather than just accept that she had been mouthy and put in her place, you decided to up the ante by attacking her directly...something you not long ago were railing against, stating how its not the sort of thing you would do. If we are to judge people by their words and actions around here, you're really not doing yourself any favours, there is a certain inconsistency to your recent behaviour that does not reflect well on you, ma'am. I suggest you take a step back and reassess.

I made my first reply the way I did because I thought she was complaining about fireworks, and that's just silly. I thought that because she sounded just like the damned WASP wives around here always complaining about teens and fireworks. Then when she answered me she was snotty and still sounded like the WASP-types so I figured she was just exaggerating, because she used the same words and phrases: illegal explosives, playing with dangerous chemicals, starting brush fires, burning down barns. The same stuff I've been hearing every May and July all my life. And you know what? Not one kid has been injured, nothing has been burned down, no forest fires, no nothing. So I thought it was just more of the WASP type whining about nothing, so I answered that I thought her fun meter was broken.

Then the crazy old broad in the cat lady suit jumped down my throat, so I slapped her back. and she kept at it (not very skillfully, but still bitchy enough) so I continued to slap her back. Then the whole rest of the peanut gallery jumped in to start up their Emily sucks bitch fest. Most I just made passing little remarks to. If you construe saying Hi back to somebody who calls you a troll and says buh-bye to you as snarky and rude or childish, then we aren't speaking the same language. The ones who insulted me directly I snapped back at.

Quite a bit later on it became clear that the topic wasn't just fireworks but something else, and yes, I could have said "oops, sorry I misunderstood" but why bother when nobody was talking about the OP's topic anymore, the topic had become Emily is an evil little shit, slap her down. Sorry, you jump on me, I'll bite back.

I apologize to anybody I insulted or offended except LadyConstanze, Muttling, JstAnotherSub, MsLadySue, and sexyred1. They all decided to attack and insult me out of the blue when I hadn't said one word to them, so screw them, they got what they asked for, I wish I had insulted them all, but I never insulted anybody, I never even called anybody any sort of name except 'silly cow" in one post, and that's not an insult where I'm from, it's about the same as saying silly goose. Now I fully expect them all to chime in with snarky insulting replies saying how I mean nothing to them and how an insignificant little twit like me could never insult them because they are so far above me. That's fine by me, its what I expect from them.

AlwaysLisa, I'm sorry I misunderstood and misjudged you at the start of the thread, but I'm afraid you also fall into the "not much sympathy" basket after your buh-bye troll and Friday night remarks. You chose that bed, you made it, you sleep in it.

thishereboi was right, I did come across as a whiny little girl, when I go back and read my posts they sound like something I might have posted when i was 16. But when I go back and read the posts of the super 6, they come across as 13 year  olds at best, cold, bitter and bitchy little tweens. I could only think of the girls who didn't make the cheer-leading squad and how they would snipe at the ones who did (no I didn't even try out for cheer-leading, I was into track and field so didn't have the time.).

There you have it, my point of view. I'm not going to be pushed around by anybody. I may be young and have no experience and be new here, but last I checked I have just as much right to be on this site as the rest of you. (using a generic you here). It's NOT your site. It's just as much mine as it is yours. Not at all..

You're free to post what you want and so am I, if you don't like what I post then by all means call me on it, but if you get into bitch-mode and start trying to bully me it isn't going to work. I'm not your sub, I won't be pushed around by anybody. Period.
