Duo Zirong, who lives in Shanghai, China, has saved over 1,200 cats from being skinned and eaten. These cats live in Zirong’s home and are taken care of by a dozen volunteers. Zirong is passionate about animal protection and she has seen a significant change with people making more of an effort to save animals. This has made a great impact to society. Zirong hopes that what she has done will continue to change China’s attitude towards cats.

Hmmmm....And who is protecting the chickens & cattle??? Meat is meat. There was a time in China when the people had a choice to eat cats & dogs or starve. Of course they ate the cats & dogs. Meat is meat.

Cow heart, snails, rabbit, pigeon and turtle soup.

Add rattlesnake, gator, iguana, bear, goat and groundhog to that list

I haven't eaten dog or cat, that I know of. When I was in China, there was a restaurant in Shanghai that offered a dish with dog in it, but I was with a bunch of Americans, some of whom were appalled to discover that the fish swimming in the aquariums were dinner. I figured they'd literally throw me off the bus if I'd ordered the dog. *sigh* I'm very curious about the taste.

I also don't get it why Americans are so weird about eating horses. I knew a ram named Bimbo on a farm in Canada. I thought he was cute. One time when I went to visit, we sat down to eat & I took a bite of the meat & it was delicious! I asked what it was & the lady of the house said, "Bimbo." My sister put her hand over her mouth & ran for the bathroom, I said, "Mmmm, Bimbo's tasty!!" & finished my meal.

Meat's meat.

I've had dog soup.  Honestly, Linnea, I had a problem eating it.  I was queasy thinking about what it was.  I made the people I was with STOP talking about the fact that we were eating dog soup.  It was shredded and kind of like pork in that way.  The soup was really spicy, so who knows what the meat tasted like?

As to my queasies - no such qualms with guinea pig!

The unemployment rate in China will certainly go up when all of those Chinese restaurants go out of business.

I would sooner eat a human baby than a guinea pig. I am not joking. Cat, dog, horse, no problem.

I accept that cuy are an important protein source elsewhere. Places far from me.

You can't help but love me, and everybody knows it.

But you know I've become mostly vegetarian these days, right?

Sorry, can't back ya on that one, sunny. Anything that squishes goo 3" across the floor when you accidentally step on it like silkworms do should not be a food item for anything but lizards!
