I have always used leather collars but my old one is wore out due to the last use. ( She was cranky lol ) Can anyone give me their honest opinion on Rubber Collars vs leather? I have found a few fair priced Rubber Collars but know nothing about them! Thank you  ;-)

Rubber or leather tends to be a material difference for the wearer. Some have fetish for rubber, some for leather.

Now a rubber collar in general is not going to last as long as a good leather collar. The rubber breaks down over time due to UV light and to skin oil. The rubber also does not breathe like leather so sweat tends to build up more under a rubber collar especially if worn for a longer period of time. I would say rubber is not as smooth as leather so its not going to have a super soft feel to it. Rubber also does not mix well with most oils as it degrades the rubber. So when using a rubber collar, stay away from oils. The upside is that rubber collars are easy to clean and dry.

I am a rubber lover and I like the rubber ones better. So I really see this as a "material choice" versus one being better than the other.

Thank you Mummyman321. The Rubber does have a nice shine and look to it I must admit but from what you said it sounds like the long term use is impractical! I was looking at the Rubberline Locking Collar but I think Ill just stick with the leather due to the fact that she will be wearing it a lot both out in public and at home.

Or you could shop smart in the pet shop and possibly get an amazing functional leather collar with a unique look for less than you spend in a fetish store...

Leather for dress use and rubber for play.

Leather looks nice and sports that "uniform" look great for parties and presentations.

But rubber ones are better for play because they are easy to clean a durable. You can get them wet or spill something on them with out worrying.
