I have read in one of the threads that the Montreal airport is among the worst.

juliaoceania -> RE: Dozens protest William and Kate’s visit to Montreal (7/2/2011 6:39:55 PM)

A whole dozen... what a large turnout[8|]

OK, Canadian Monarchy, lesson #2, repetition #30 - 40 by now.

Most Canadians are profoundly indifferent to the monarchy. We have them, they are our ceremonial heads of state, and we generally don't give a crap about them.

They made a visit to Montreal,a city of almost 4 million, over a long weekend and "dozens" showed up to protest, and "hundreds" to support. The telling point is that millions couldn't be bothered.

Out of 4 million, maybe 250 - 300 cared enough one way or another to bother showing up. what does this spell Hunky? I N D I F F E R E N C E

Nobody in Canada spend as much time thinking about the Queen in a year as you do in an afternoon. Hell neither does anybody in the UK. Nobody on earth spends as much mental effort on them as you do. You keep saying she needs to get over herself...well I think you need to get over her. Your obsession is unhealthy.

I <3 Kate I think she is a sweetheart.

pahunkboy -> RE: Dozens protest William and Kate’s visit to Montreal (7/3/2011 3:59:01 AM)

She is related to George Washington.

Aneirin -> RE: Dozens protest William and Kate’s visit to Montreal (7/3/2011 6:32:27 AM)

Wow, I didn't know that, you are sure up on your royals aren't you ?

But it is very much as DS said, those suject are largely indifferent, it is what it is, it has existed for a long time, and largely they keep out of everyone's way, but if it was not for the media, we would forget they even exist.

But here is one for you hunky, my cousin is married to a man who is I think sixteenth in line to the throne, he is no one special, got drunk with him a few times.

Musicmystery -> RE: Dozens protest William and Kate’s visit to Montreal (7/3/2011 8:26:08 AM)

That this was in Quebec is significant as well (vs. Canada generically).

yes for outward appearance.  Nonetheless he is part of the nobility and could prbly get some seriously nice grants maybe a county or something.

No one ever pays attention to a change in land lords if the price does not change and the checks are sent to the same place.  lol

public indifference has no bearing on legitimacy.

No offense Arpig, but I don't know which is harder to stay awake through,,, your having to re-educate pahunky or an episode of Barney

Yeah, in quebec city, that wouldn't even make a good bar fight. But in montreal, it's headlines.... Leading me to believe that there is a fox news field office there,,,,
"Montreal ces't ne pas patriotique"

(I apologize in advance for my poor french in an effort to cheap shot fox)

tazzygirl -> RE: Dozens protest William and Kate’s visit to Montreal (7/3/2011 9:05:03 AM)

Barney, hands down. At least with the re-education there is always the potential for something equally as silly for a rebuttal.

Well, whatever you think, I would rather have my life than his, because of the born into expectation that is upon people in that situation I believe could be pretty difficult to live with, and more so the higher up the tree one gets, and that because of public oppinion. How would you like to be followed around morning, noon and night by the press recording ever move you make, can't be much of a life now can it ?

What price freedom, is it better to be a nobody than a royal ?

I certainly think so !

And if it can be difficult for kinky commoners in society, what hope those in high places, can you imagine if the media got a whiff of that ?

But as many elsewhere in countries that don't have a monarchy, they seem to be interested in the royal family, I just have to ask why ? And say the ruse got out about what they are really upto, fact or fiction, it matters not when people have axes to grind, and say the monarchy got disbanded, what will replace them, for there will always be some who wish to slide into their slot, there won't be a hierachial place left unfilled, you know that don't you.

But if not monachy, elite politicians perhaps....

He can always abdicate. He's not in a Greek tragedy, you know.

Dozens protest, thousands show up to worship. Why care, they have not done anything productive?  Just leave them alone. Why waste valuable time?

Do you have to practice to read so mechanical?

pahunkboy -> RE: Dozens protest William and Kate’s visit to Montreal (7/3/2011 6:25:42 PM)

Montreal tho really is not Canadian.  It is more like an after thought.
