Congrats Heather! I've returned from a similar, if less poetic, family weekend - my great grandfather built a cottage on a beach north of Boston, the family legend saying to keep his 7 sons and their families from being underfoot at his place. Now 6 descendants own houses there and my mother and I had a great time walking down the beach and visiting. My sister and BIL rented a tall house on a hill and Sunday night we were treated to the most amazing fireworks display - we could see three community sponsored fireworks plus a slew of individual displays with no mosquitoes and no traffic headaches.

Well, even so, it was the best submitted, and that's good enough for me for a first attempt. Edit. Well I promised to tell you how my next little project went, so I will. It sucked majorly, a total crumple it up and toss it over your shoulder sort of sucking. Time to start over I guess.

Well at this point I am mostly just doing writing exercises, things I thought up to try improve where I know I am weak, and that is with characters and dialogue. My failed exercise was to write a conversation between several people, but only give one person's words, and see if I could make the whole conversation understandable. Sort of like listening to somebody talking on the phone and trying to guess what the other person is saying. I'm not sure if I'm going to try it again right away or move on to a different one and revisit this idea later on.

You should write about how I am unfairly treated here and should be given proper admiration. Hey, you can tack on one of those "sob stories of ultimate justification." It worked for Combat Boots next to you.

Yes, I'll help out a total stranger that I don't want to know. Like my parents always told me; you hang around losers, you become a loser. I'm sure yours would say the same if they were allowed to speak to you without being eavesdropped on.
