"Those are listings of Gross Debt and very misleading, unless you think that what those countries are owed will be forgiven. Net debt is far more relevant if the country doesnt have a track record of waiving debt." - willbeurdaddy

I am sorry, the link to net foreign debt is also contained in my link did you miss it?

Not that it is any prettier - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_international_investment_position

However the topic appeared to be India's supposed bonus from this find and its debt and how low it was.

If you want it sugar coated, dont ask me what i think! It would violate TOS.

RE: India debt free?

Missed the question mark behind it?

It was a question. And not even a pertinent one.

I never said their debt was low. That was your assumption based upon a question in a title... dont blame me because you assumed.

I thought you guys had been quite careful not to call it an empire?

Ron Suskind, quoting an unnamed Bush aide (later identified as Karl Rove) in a New York Times Magazine article:

The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

I stand corrected: I'd always thought your governments made an effort to avoid using the E word.
Obviously Karl Rove didn't get that memo...
