cuckoldmepls -> Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 3:29:11 PM)

Most Conservatives realized that Bush was bad enough when it came to circumventing the Constitution especially when it came to Illegal Immigration and the Patriot Act, but Obama makes him look like an amateur.

Then why didn't they say something?!!!!!!

willbeurdaddy -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 3:37:57 PM)

I dont know that it falls under legislative circumvention, but Holder is again back at a civilian trial and Miranda warnings for a Somali pirate, without notifying Congress in advance as Oblahblah promised he would.

Lucylastic -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 5:52:34 PM)

Hmmmmmm Had Obama not won the election, not one conservative woud have said anything like that..
They certainly kept it quiet , until..... they blamed the newbie...
stop dribbbling nonsense cucky, you are lookin desperate

DomKen -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 5:56:20 PM)

Just read the article and the 5 things cited aren't circumventions of Congress.

pahunkboy -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 6:04:05 PM)

This 5 is the best you can do?

I thought there were worse.

FirstQuaker -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 6:10:45 PM)

Most of the critque seems to be regarding tampering with the administrative codes, which has been a time honored tradition for US presidents, as long as we have had the things..

However the congress has to approve all changes and new regulations added to the CFR before they become valid, which normally stops such adventurism. But it is nice to see the congress critters (and others) might  actually doing their jobs and reading the things before they sign off on them.

The old legal saw about  how an agency doesn't have and cannot have any more powers then the legislative branch that created them and grants their authority does, still is the case. This isn't the UK where the Crown writes and approves the admistrative rules and regulations, and Parliament is only consulted about them after the fact, if then.

Owner59 -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 6:44:09 PM)

"The House has voted to block those regulations, but Obama has pledged to veto any such legislation."

That professor,is a legislative process.

So this knocks one off the list.

Added:this is in reply to the OP.

FirstQuaker -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 6:55:36 PM)

Well any of his regulations that exceed or contradict  the enabling statues will certainly appear in the court system, as many do anyway.

Assuming the slugs in congress don't see them first and act on them.

But normally the DOJ catches the worst offenders internally and shuts them down before they ever make it that far.

erieangel -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 7:45:27 PM)

As for #3, actually the Obama administration has deported in the past 2 years more illegals than the Bush administration had in the previous 8. But facts don't count.

cuckoldmepls -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 8:02:45 PM)

Not surprising that some of you would dispute these facts. People who live in fantasy land will rationalize anything so they can justify their vote. Who wants to admit that Obama has been Bush's 3rd term? More Illegal Immigration, more spending, more attempts to silence free speech especially the internet by giving the FCC control  over it, another (this time) definitely unjustified military intervention in Libya without Congressional support, more covert attempts to ban guns by negotiating a small arms treaty that the U.N. has drawn up, heck, Obama even went looking for more free trade agreements to sign. When are you people going to admit, that we not only are going in the same direction Bush was, We've taken a 20 yr leap ahead towards George Orwellians 1984 world. My gosh, everything they do is more government control over every aspect of your lives, and whether you realize it or not, going after corporations with higher taxes will only be passed on to the consumer. If you don't believe that, just look at your damn phone bill.

Bush never once circumvented Congress. He circumvented the Constitution though by intentionally not securing the border after 9/11. By the way, allowing another 500,000 Illegal aliens in during the 3 years of his administration will not make up for deporting 20,000 Illegal aliens. I think this is what they call window dressing. From across the street it sure looks good, but if you walk up to the window and look inside the store, then you will really see what is going on.

Let me give you another example of why I call him the master of deception. He tells America that his deficit reduction plan will reduce the deficits by $4 trillion over the next 10 years. However, what he doesn't tell you is that the deficits and national debt are still going to be bad, but according to his calculations it will be $4 trilllion less bad. In reality, at the current rate of deficits we will be $30 trillion in debt in only 10 more years. he doesn't want you to know that.

So his little game of pretending like he's going to accomplish something, when he actually is digging us a deeper hole is not going to fly in the next election.

"Not surprising that some of you would dispute these facts."

I quoted from your piece,professor.

cuckoldmepls -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 8:26:41 PM)

You people are so gullible. Before he got elected he promised to cancel NAFTA or at least renegotiate it for more favorable terms, while at the same time his people were meeting with Canadian officials telling them not to worry. Well not only has he not even mentioned NAFTA now that he has been elected King, they are now in the process of letting Mexican trucks roll which will put even more American trucking companies out of business. I believe around 3,000 have gone under since the recession but that's too small a figure for Obama so he needs to add to it. Remember, this is the guy who is setting all the records when it comes to unemployment and economic statistics, and how much he can spend before Congress catches on. They finally have caught on, but they are still caving in because they know most Americans aren't smart enough to realize what is really going on here.

Basically, Obama has based his entire agenda on spending money without limitations, and attempting to find new sources of revenue to make it more paltable.

This is bullshit. The FCC has never had control of the internet. What the liars who wrote that article are talking about is the FCC implementing regulations on ISP's. The FCC has always had that authority and the debate over whether the FCC should treat ISP's as common carriers, like phone companies, or create a seperate category for them is what the net nuetrality debate has been about for the last 7 or 8 years at least.

Real0ne -> RE: Five Ways Obama Circumventing Legislative Branch (7/7/2011 9:27:09 PM)

the real question is just who the fuck is running the country.

this appears to be anarchy

Obama’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) decided late last year to assume authority over Internet regulation despite a ruling by a federal appeals court explicitly denying the commission that authority. In contradiction of the court’s ruling, the FCC voted 3–2 in December to pass the first-ever federal regulations on Internet traffic. The House has voted to block those regulations, but Obama has pledged to veto any such legislation.
