Let this be a repository for the angst of readers bufuddled by incorrect typoing and grammar, and outright misspellings. I am guilty of same of course.

I have some of the weirdest of them all. Like "You are now a fucking nut" instead of "You are not a fucking nut". Makes a difference ya think ? There are others. I usually catch them, but to do so I must proof things manually, no spell checker can help me.

I also have an affinity for the A key. I catch myself using it instead of other letters. But then in my experience, the A key has gone bad on me on alot of keyoards over the years.

Sometimes my typos are so bad I can't even fix them, which causes me to delete whole sentences. I will reveal mine, the best way to do so would be to just post without proofing. But not in the OP. So this is everyone's chance to correct others, to pick on each other and start a flame war. Better here than in one of the good categories right ? Whatever you think. Want to bitch about to, too and two ? Where, ware and wear ? Whether and weather ? This is the place you ever dreamed of.

And grammar, HAVE AT IT !

Then instead of fucking up threads with grammatical corrections and the associated insults we can just put them all here, and just reference the page by direct link and post number. What's more you don't have to name names. Maybe then we can educate people.

Well only some people.........

Me too. I was reading through the OP thinking, 'When is he going to get to the point?'

Sorry Termy - Right - I'll re-read.

I've had to train myself to not get snarky about people's misspellings & grammatical errors because, while I'm quite good at spelling, I fuck up sometimes myownself!! And I'm nearly positive that if I tried to jump on someone else for that sort of thing, my post would be full of errors.

That having been said, one of my biggest pet peeves is the use of the word "discrete" when what one really means is "discreet". I have others, but that is the one that makes me batshit currently.

And if the OP had been about the police in the UK, wouldn't it have been more proper to have said, "British police"?

Yeah, goddammit! I thought someone was offering them like a litter of puppies: free to a good home.
I LOVE good Englishmen and I LOVE good cops, and now you're snatching them away like a dollar-bill on a fishing line: lower lip auto-inflates :-(

Not to derail your thread Termy, but I think this is fitting with the threads title.

Taking the thread in the spirit in which it was intended..........

I'm not the spelling, grammar, homonym, slash speak, text speak, caps, or third person writing police.  At the same time, for the love of mike, could you please, put some effort into it?  This is a written forum and the way your message is printed on the screen really is the impression that people have of you.  If even a computer twit like Myself can manage to get spell check going, it's a reasonable request.  Even if I couldn't, google is a click away and it's not that hard to access a dictionary.  If you can't be bothered, you just might be as lazy, apathetic, and unintelligent as you are making yourself appear to be.

Everybody is going to goof up once in a while.  When it's constant, it does reflect on you.

I know my typing skills well enough to know that at times I am GOING to transpose a letter or two.. and I have said in the past: deal with it.. I am not going to backspace 15 sentences to realign an 'I' and a 'T'.

I know I tend not to use punctuation.

HOWEVER, at least I am clear in what I am saying (well, except when I am tired...but oddly, usually that STILL seems to make sense to most..).. if I scan and see that the typo/transposition in some way interferes with what I am saying, I will fix it.

I *try* to extend that same attitude towards others...

but when they constantly make egregious typing errors and say (in essence) "fuck you, you all suck!!!"

yeah..no quarter from here..

at least make an effort, FFS.

and when the errors are so CONSTANTLY and obviously interfering with the communication...   consider getting Dragon, or whatever that voice recognition typing prog is!!

I am fluent in typonese. If they gave degrees in it, I'd have an advanced one.
