I dunno, I kinda like Harper...

the SEVEN bit is rather offputting, though...

what she said....though with the weird names which are allowed in other countries I do appreciate these days that over here you have to apply for the name you wanna use....and if it sounds too ridicoulus (and so likely to bullying for the kid later in life or embarrassement) then quite frankly it will be denied...

I simply don't approve of it that you can name your kids everything like....fridge and freezer if you want to

ffs, some folks would so be better off with pets instead of kids

life is tough enough being the offspring of a celeb to start with, so lets make it even harder by giving them a name that marks them out as different

At least most of the kids will be able to afford the therapy they need because other kids will be taking the piss. Somebody I know quite well gave his 2 sons absolutely stupid names (he thought they were cool) and was a tad offended when I pointed out that once they go to school they will learn to hate their parents, because the other kids will be taking the mickey remorselessly...

I don't think Harper is too bad.  The seven part is a bit too far out there for My tastes, but <shrug>.

This is coming from a woman who told her own daughter that she obviously had too much time on her hands when selecting the name of My first grandchild.  I won't post it here, but the first name has ten letters and the middle has eleven letters total, plus a hyphen.

Posh and Becks have had a daughter and named her.....drum roll..... Harper Seven.
Even by celeb standards that's pretty off the wall. Why would you do that?

Harper Lee seemed to do okay with the name. As far as Seven for a middle name.. I'd rather have that name than the middle name I actually have to carry. It's all subjective in any event.

Actually that's not really it, can't blame them, from a certain level of fame anda drink anymore, that they can't just go out with friends and have a few drinks, that they can't leave the house without looking glam and money they are surrounded by yes people, so small wonder that most of them lose touch with reality a bit, and you know when they are all "hungry" and want to make it, nobody really tells them what life will be when they made it, that they can't go out and buy perfect or else they find themselves in the tabloids the next day with ridiculous headlines like "drinking problem" or whatever. They hang out with other celebs because they don't know what's going to happen if they talk to somebody normal, will they sell a ridiculous story to a tabloid or or or...

In a way they are prisoners of their own fame and money.

True, my parents gifted me with 7 (how ironic is that) middle names and my surname is quite long anyway (I guess I should get married and have a triple barreled name - NOT), so when it's requested that I should sign with my full name somewhere, I usually just roll my eyes and ask if I can have another piece of paper...

Apparently it's something to do with the goalkeeper Steve Harper who had the number seven at Manchester United. Supposedly. If he'd ever been that good at football I'd of let him get away with calling his children whatever he fancied, but he's pushing his luck at this point - though I can't say I'm surprised, they've never been the sharpest knives in the metaphorical box.

Much better than her being named after the Steve Harper rolling around these parts with his hair-sprayed plastered on hair, cold heart and scary intentions.

You mean be one of those who pay themselves big dividends even though they fucked up and had to be bailed out with our tax money? The way the music industry currently is, the millions have dried up as sales are not what they were (ha, like that was not forseeable with manufactured bands and artists, no developing of talent and everybody earning more than the artists themselves... DOH) but there's always Hollyweird...

I think I rather start some obscure cult, hey founding a religion never harmed anybody, ask Hubbard or LaVey... I think I shall start the cult of being free of material possessions, so please send me all your cash, Prada bags and designer shoes (size 4 only) and sunglasses, I need more sunglasses...

I dont have a problem with people coming up with unique and original names. It is 2011. I loathe the group mentality where it is considered "good" to have a name like, Cathy, Susan, Tom, Dave. I am sick to death with these pablum names. I was sick to death of them in the 60's and I am still sick of them.

People taking the piss out of others is more about the people taking the piss than the person with the unique name. People suck and have kids and their kids act out on other kids cause adults are too big and bossy for kids to take the piss out of them. You see a bossy bullying kid look at the parents, that is where it mostly originates.

Why we are so in love with conformity and call it "reality"? It is some crazy archaic shit we propagate. If a child is named with love and consideration of who that little being is it is none of anyone's business. If folks need to point fingers and all that because someone has an unusual name they likely make boring dinner guests.

The Zappa kids were named unusal names but I have read a book Moonbeam wrote and she is an awesome soul. European people often have "unusual" names, first and last, so the freak what. When my parents came to North America they made my mom change her first name because white people didnt know how to pronounce it. Yeah right. I call bogus conformist bullshit.
