The really funny thing about that, of course, is the main reason we stopped speaking Middle English in the first place is because those Germanic structural laws of grammar were a pain in the arse to use and massively oversimplified the language...

made it understandable!

cant have that in law!

they would be firing judges left and right and shooting attorneys.  LOL

Okay then: make a few posts discussing constitutional law in anglo saxon or Middle English, and demonstrate how these are clearer and less confusing languages than modern English.

He then asked them, who would apply to its amendment, and be in that fellowship that he was, and love that which he loved, and shun that which he shunned, both on sea and land? That is, then, that no man deny justice to another: if any one do so, let him make bot as it before is written; for the first offence, with thirty shillings; and for the second offense, the like; and for the third, with 120 shillings to the king.

well when it comes to legal documents these assholes your country included write law and come up with the fucking definitions as they go along.  Not so bad there but here the syntax fraud is incredible.

then you got people who do not know how to read as demonstrated in this thread.

Add it up and the law over here is a literal complete shit mess fucked up beyond all recognition.

Lets translate that and see if it makes sense

From this one law one might think that he judges everyone rightly, that he need no other law-book. Let him take care that he judge no one in a way that he did not want himself to be judged, if that one sought judgement against him. After that happened, that many peoples accepted Christ’s faith, many councils were assembled throughout all the world. And likewise among the English, after they accepted Christ’s faith, holy bishops as well as other distinguished councillors. They set down, on account of their mercy which Christ taught, that the secular lords must at the first guilt, for most any transgression, with their privilege and without sin, take their monetary compensation which they set down. The exception is treason against the lord, to which they should show no mercy, for the Almighty God gave none to them that despised him, nor did Christ, God’s son, to those who sold him to death, and he commanded that one should love a lord as himself. They then in many councils set down compensations for many transgressions of people, and they wrote in many council books, here one law, there another. Then I, King Ælfred, gathered these together and ordered many of these that our ancestors held to be written down, those which pleased me. And many of those which did not please me I threw out, with the advice of my councillors, and commanded them to be kept in other ways. Therefore, I did not rashly presume to set down much of my own in writing, for it was uncertain to me what would please those who come after us. But those that I found from the days of either my relative Ine, or King Offa of the Mercians, or Æthelbert, who was the first of the English to receive baptism, which seemed to me most just, I gathered them here and left the rest. Then I, King Ælfred of the West Saxons, showed these to all my councillors, and they said that it pleased them for all these laws to be kept.yup makes sense to me

Or, for something completely different:

4. King Edward exhorted his witan when they were at Exeter, that they should all search out how their frith might be better than it had previously been: for it seemed to him that it was more indifferently observed than it should be, what he had formerly commanded. thats a good one, he consulted his brain, I like that I am going to remember that one.

excuse me I need to consult me brain.

well last time I checked this is a message board and I am not doing a law review, at least not on the record.

People argue about the constitution as if it gaves them some kind of power and I have to laugh that the supreme court said straight up the bill of rights does not apply to the individual person and I tip my hat to Patrick Henry who said straight up the constitution was a fraud and they lied when they said we the "People" as in PROPER NOUN-object meaning a specific crowd.

Its a big club and you aint in it!

The United States of America was here before you got here and will be here long after you are feeding maggots, of course it ain't about you the individual.

Real0ne -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 3:30:44 PM)

Yeh we fully understand that the intent of the constitution was used to wipe the asses of the banks and english overlords.  Well under lords.

mnottertail -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 3:33:27 PM)

You are using a royal we there, since you are the only one in the entire world still able to tap on the keyboard who has any truck with that asswipe.

Real0ne -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 3:39:17 PM)

does not matter how you cut it, the CONstitution is just that "FRAUD"

It was never meant for the people as in the inhabitants.  It has always meant for the ruling class.

If you made el prezzi dante' you would walk into office and they would say now this is the way its gonna be, forget about all the asswipe you spread throughout the country.

We the People means We the State exactly as Henry said and the "p"eoples rights have been systematically wiped out exactly as henry said.   All you have is civil privileges from the king state.

mnottertail -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 4:04:47 PM)

all very wrong, Henry was not an american, Kissinger was born in Germany, has nothing to do with the Constitution as president, and neither would anyone that goes by the name of Hank in any foreign country save perhaps Henry Fonda shooting on location.

My point is that you are unable to write using syntax, so how the hell do you expect people to believe you understand it.

Real0ne -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 5:18:28 PM)

may want to read the thread.

It took nearly a whole page of rules just to reasonably describe to  75% explanation of the first part of the preamble "We the People of the United States,", to correct and prove Ron was wrong when he said "People" was a pronoun.

As I told imperix it would take at least 5+ pages of text to fully explain the whole preamble.

Do you have even one reason that I should give a shit about my grammar during parlor banter?  I see no reason to put in the effort unless I am doing legal work or formal writing.

mnottertail -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 5:19:54 PM)

But you havent proven it and English syntax and grammar still stands unchanged by your delusions.

People is people is a pronoun

Termyn8or -> RE: Patrick Henry is top shelf! (7/22/2011 9:32:56 PM)

Yes and "I" is a pronoun as well.

T^T

For the first part, I have read the whole thread, thats why my name is attached to several posts.

For the second part, you still dont get it do you ? Syntax and grammar isnt something you turn on and off, it isnt something where you post from one extreme to the other. It is simply your everyday use of language, your posts show that to be poor. While you will see this as an attack, I see it as very valid in the context of you trying to explain grammar, nouns, pronouns and FRAUD. Your posts dont give me any faith that you know what you are talking about, not just by the content, but also by your grammar.

You dont have the ability to understand writing styles from the 1770s, especially by those with northern european backgrounds, hence your failure to spot the one capital you have homed in on, from a whole text of seemingly meaningless capitals. .

As I read through some of the posts on this thread, I can't help but be reminded of this. :)

It sure is something I turn on and off.   When in general society I morph right in, and when writing a brief I morph right in.  Its a talent that escapes single dimension thinking that needs to see a peg that fits a predertermined hole.  Further I am not picky, message boards are a big waste of time much less adding unnecessary  expense of a communication.

In as much as my understanding is concerned, what you see and what you show are entirely different things.

You can "see" popcorn machines with wings for all anyone cares, but until you can walk the walk and "show" they exist, like grammar, which you have failed to show, which is sorely lacking in your criticism your post is meaningless.

Rules of grammar exist for a reason and pretending they are meaningless is not only absurd but delusional.

of course that is precisely the same approach as "the message was not gift wrapped with a pink bow so its bs".

why would anyone promote that kind of logic?
