The only eyeball "scene" that ever freaked me out was in real life.  My sub-hub clipped himself in the eye while in the shower (long story) and was bleeding from it.  Needless to say, I rushed him to the Dr.... it ended up being mild.... medicated eyedrops healed it in a couple of weeks.... unfortunately, the site of him bleeding from his eye will stay with me forever.

Well, we haven't had an eyeball thing around here, but a couple of months ago, my 13-year-old nephew and my ten-year-old son were outside riding bikes.  He'd stayed the night and it was early still, around 8:00 a.m., when he came limping to the house. My nephew is a big boy, he's taller than I am, and he's hefty.  He is overweight, but not to the point of obesity, he's just a BIG kid.  At any rate, he comes limping to the house.  He comes inside and I asked him if he'd fallen off his bike (it was new).  He said yes and showed me the palm of his hand, that had been skinned.  I yelled at my daughter to get the bandaids and some bactine or neosporin or something.  He sat down in the chair and I noticed that his pants had a little blood on them.  I asked if he'd skinned his knee too and he said yeah...so I had him pull up his pants leg so I could have a look.

There was a 5 inch gash all the way to the bone in his flesh, just below his knee.  It wasn't bleeding much, but I cannot get the sight of his torn flesh out of my mind.  He started crying and asking if "they" were going to cut his leg off...I reassured him "they" wouldn't.  Then he cried harder and apologized for cutting his own leg off...

Since he suffers some fairly intense emotional problems, we felt it best that we call an ambulance to transport him to the hospital.  The EMT came in and looked rather shocked at what he saw, then explained to him that he was just going to cover the wound and that it wouldn't hurt.  Then they'd load him on the stretcher and take him to the hospital.  Grandma collected all his meds (there are SEVERAL) and rode with him.

They knocked him out, stitched him up and sent him home.

I couldn't sleep that night, because I kept seeing that wound in my head.

Where oh where do my threads go?

jock rot. . . bleeding flesh wounds (it was RL so that does not count). . . too ickky pics. . . okay I pretty much asked for that last one by starting this. . .

I will re-state the question. . . Is there any other human body part that gets "damaged/mutilated/removed" in a movie that disturbs ya all?

And okay. . . thank you (I think) for all of the written visuals. . . Guess that I am a masochist (not that I was doubting) to keep on cheaking this thread.

No really. . . go where you please. . . it is interesting.

I love horror movies...the special effects these days are wicked!

Ghost Ship, the wire slices them in half wicked cool.

My favorite movie... Misery...

I broke My ankle and leg and had screws put in to hold it together.....The scene in Misery with
the mallet and the ankles....

A lychee is a small, tasty fruit.  A young lady at work is Vietnamese and is frequently enjoying them as part of her lunch.  She shared with me one day and they are quite yummy.  Sort of a peachy flavor.  They do, however, thinking on it, have the consistency one might imagine for an eyeball.  Ewwwwww.

About the only thing I really can't stand watching is liposuction.  There's just something about (what appears to be) violently ramming a rod under the skin and sucking out blood and fat (which looks REALLY gross!!!!) that makes me cringe.

Can't really say that there is anything that actually grosses me out these days.  Worst I ever say is "That's just not right," or something along those lines.  Just have a cast-iron gut, I guess...

While I agree with the hatred of the whole eyeball thing in horror stories, this also brings up another of my recent complaints: Why are all horror movies these days just becoming excuses to show gruesome, disgusting violence? Horror movies used to be scary. Now they're just disgusting. I used to LOVE horror films. Now, I avoid the horror section at all costs because they're not making scary movies anymore. They're making gross out films, and I really miss when they did good things. Sure, every now and then one comes along, but they're getting very little attention because everyone expects the blood bath so they avoid them, unless they somehow transcend to a different genre.

I normally go with the "think along the lines of admiring the special effects" poster. However, if they're too effective (for me), I find it rather disturbing.

There's a scene in Gattaca (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119177/) where, for good reason, the protagonist needs to have his legs lengthened. Being science fiction, this is possible ... but it starts out by cutting the shins clean through.

*shudder*

It's possible even if it isn't science fiction.  I've known people who have had it done, and they start with breaking the legs.

Yup, same here.  My roommate last year was addicted to the
TV show "Nip Tuck".  She could actually sit there and eat
while watching the lipsuction.
