I've actually never heard of this guy before now. If all of this is true, than its safe to say how spineless the GOP really has become. I find it amusing that he claims credit for George W. H. Bush's defeat to William J. Clinton in '92.....what an ego!

Grover Norquist

If you've never heard of Norquist before you are woefully uninformed about GOP internal politics. Norquist and his followers have been the driving force behind the supply side economic nonsense pushed by the Republicans since Reagan. Fear of his wrath is what is keeping the debt ceiling deal from getting done.

Maybe I've heard of this guy, but never really thought of the guy's name until this piece.

What I always find interesting about the Republican Party is that they are continually influenced by people like this.

And I don't deny Democrats have outside influences as well but it seems not to this degree.

He's got a hell of a mailing list, and has a history of gunning for anyone violating his pledge.

He's also one of the "starve the beast" community.

Lawrence O'Donnell refers to Grover as the most powerful man who doesn't occupy the WH.

With all these "pledges" the republicans must sign in order to get elected, how will they ever govern?

Republicans run on the premise that government does not work....when they actually get elected they set about proving it.

Well, that's exactly it - they don't.
