Ok, so this is a purely hypothetical question generated out of pure curiosity to see what all of you think.

The question:

If the US government were to send us into default and the economy goes really south or far east (think China) do you think other nations would come to our rescue and bail us out? Do you think that the countries that the US has shored up in the past would return the favor? Or would they let us rot just to come and pick us apart later?

Not even this part is remotely likely. The rest of your question is absurd.

Even if hypothetically, none of your answers make sense in that context.

But I know you folks love your doomsday scenarios. So if you must---the U.S. is 1/5 of the world's economy. Imagine any economy with a 20% drop. And that's ignoring that our economies are intertwined.

A U.S. crash would be a global crash.

It isn't going to happen. No matter how many talk show hosts milk irrational fear for ratings.

I hope you underfuckingstand that this is not a joke. Ths is not the joke they play for you on TV and it is NOT coming on August second. Before I answer your question I need to know if you are a sheeple parading around promoting the game to get as many spectators as possible, or if you REALLY understand the fucking problem and just how bad it is.

Please advise.

I am going to change the rules. Even though this is a poll it is staying right here. The last thread that was moved because it was a poll according to the guidelines spilled over to the rest of the forums, where usually there is a much "kinder, gentler" type of poster. Since P & R tends to get "down and dirty" at times, it's staying here.

I will also say this......for future reference; name calling is generally frowned upon, but some of the posters in this forum seem to love it, and in THIS forum, there is more leeway, and will continue to be, as both of the subjects in this forum even in real life tend to get heated when discussed.(ya'll better not get confused where you are posting and forget the difference in the rules ).  Threatening other users is not acceptable however anywhere on the board, here or otherwise.

/Walks in and calls everyone names/

I agree with MM.  However, there is also the ethical matter of a bailout.

We had a tech bubble under Clinton. That deflated and was replaced with a RE bubble under Bush.  When that deflated, there were no bubbles that appeared to replace it.  So Bush and later Obama used deficit spending as a pseudo-bubble to prevent a complete crash and bail out those responsible.

In other words, they signed up Joe and Jane Taxpayer to make good on fraudulent and insane agreements that had been made.

I have serious ethical issues with bailing out six figure income crooks.  I'm not going to sign some stupid pledge that ALL bailouts are bad in ALL circumstances, but this one has no merit.
