Or "Check that birth certificate for typos"

quote:

Obama's Senior Moment: 'I'll be turning 50 in a week.'

Actually…he’ll be turning 50 in three weeks. His birthday is August 4, two days after the debt ceiling deadline.

Senior moment?

Video here

He meant his first birthday in Kenya, not his re-birthday in Hawaii.

He had another senior moment today when he said that "80% of the American People want the budget deficit funded with *"cuts and revenues.*"
Why didn't he just say "higher taxes?" "Revenues?"
I asked a few people out by the pool and mailboxes if they wanted higher taxes and they said "NO!"
And, we must have *someone* in this site who was polled to get that "80%" figure right? Funny, I didn't hear anything about such a poll.
Maybe he got confused and he was talking about the "troops and minefields along the Mexican Border poll?"
Maybe he'll admit that the govt. screwed up our finances but,....."we won't do it again so give us more of your hard earned money!"
Boy, with all this transparency comming out of Washington I think I'll start wearing my sunglasses all the time, and keep my hip boots handy.

Then there was his recent criticism of, "job killing tax cuts."  Careful, Mr. President, your Marxist slip is showing.

I wish he HAD said this and meant it.

Imagine today's Republicans weren't full of shit, and they passed a Balanced Budget Amendment in early 2001. What would have happened to Iraq and Afghanistan? We simply couldn't have afforded to go.

What if taxes hadn't been cut again? The Bush tax cuts were "reckless and irresponsible," Republican appointee Greenspan warned, before Bush made him backpedal. Without those cuts, we would have had revenue for stimulus (whether it's a good idea is another matter) without the massive borrowing dragging on our economy. And we could have continued running surpluses in the meantime.

All of which would have left us in better economic shape---and with more jobs.

Yeah, that's the problem with you political independents Popeye, you spend too much time talking to those other political independents out at the pool and mailbox instead of paying attention to what's going on.

GOP Position “No New Taxes” Is Rapidly Crumbling

A May 11 Pew report reminds us that the original Bush tax cuts in 2001 were supported only because the budget surpluses of the Clinton administration were expected to continue for some time. Nor were tax cuts peoples’ preferred option for dealing with the surpluses: 37 percent favored increased spending for Social Security and Medicare, 23 percent wanted other domestic spending raised, and only 19 percent favored a tax cut.

Furthermore, people accepted from the beginning that if budget surpluses failed to materialize then the tax cuts would need to be curtailed; 73 percent of people said that the Bush tax cuts needed to automatically be scaled-back if surpluses turned out to be smaller than expected. Of course, the surpluses were much smaller; in fact, they evaporated within a year. Rather than admit their error, however, additional tax cuts were rammed through.

Although Republicans insist that the Obama administration’s policies are largely, if not exclusively, responsible for the deficit, the American people know better. According to an April New York Times/CBS News poll, 41 percent of people primarily blame the Bush administration for today’s deficit; only 14 percent blame Obama. That same poll found that an overwhelming 72 percent of people support raising taxes on couples making more than $250,000 in order to reduce the deficit. The House Republican budget plan would slash taxes for the rich by reducing the top income tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent, in exchange for limiting or eliminating longstanding tax breaks. The plan would still require larger budget cuts to achieve budget balance.

RML, would you loan your dead beat brother-in-law money after he couldn't pay you a bunch of times?
Why should we give even more of our money to a govt that can't balance a budget like you and me have to do?
Govt. taking even more of The People's money is the answer to what exactly???

Uh................well..............it's the answer to why we have roads to drive on, why we don't have to worry that the food we eat is contaminated, why the airplane we fly on is not going to drop out of the sky because of poor maintenance.

Should I continue?

Because I can keep giving you examples all day.

Yeah, I dont understand it either, one thing we could do would be to slash all federal retirees including military retireees pay by about 75%.   That would help considerably.

And dump them fuckers from hospitalization except for service connected and PX privileges.

I don't get it. I have lots of clients with the ability to pay that still are able to utilize the VA for drugs and treatment even though their ailments are definitely not service connected.

WTF is up with that shit?

They are deadbeats, bellying up to the trough, destroying america.  I think we pay more for them than we do for all our foreign aid.

Ah, I believe those things are *already* in existance. Are you saying we should have to pay for them all over again?
I don't mind at all spending money on the things you mentioned.
The answer is not "more money" from the taxpayers the answer is to make cuts or end many programs.
Our govt. is doing a LOT of things they just shouldn't be doing.
One of the easiest things in the world is to "justify" more spending isn't it? "What will happen if we don't spend this money on (fill in the blank)" ("It's for the c-h-i-l-d-r-e-n!!!")
Our govt. is *HUMONGOUS* and has an appetite for the taxpayer's money that we simply can't meet anymore.
We can *afford* all the things you mentioned! New roads, aircraft inspections, food inspections. We *can't* afford 3 wars, $50 b a year in "foreign aid" which has become an "entitlement" program with many countries having been on it for *20 years* or longer, 12 Carrier Battle Groups and a lot of other unneccessary military expenditures, a bloated State Dept, Energy, Education Depts, EPA walking around with sidearms tresspassing on private property and many other things.
I'm not in favor of Imperialism or Empire.
I simply don't want my govt. getting us involved in foreign countrie's problems.

I can only infer that you do not *WIPE* your ass when you shit, it is an exercise in waste.  We have the need to *maintain and upgrade* our infrastructure to *travel place to place* and *be competitive globally*

If we really were "competitive globally" we would have put most countries out of business by now, you know, "Capitalism" and all that.
You don't help your competition. When you're giving foreign countries money you're not "competing."
And "maintaining and upgrading" our infrastructure is something we *sorely* need to get started on! Didn't you guys up in Minn. lose a bridge not too long ago?
Wouldn't you rather spend $100 B fixing our roads and bridges in this country rather than pouring it down that rat hole in Afganistan?
The only thing that seems to be "shovel ready" for our money is foreign countries!
Now that's a term we haven't heard the Magnificent One (with his "162 i.q.") use in a while, "shovel ready."

I have been for infrastructure improvements since day one.  If we are spending money it should be on us.
