SuzeCheri -> A Question for the Queers (7/19/2011 2:59:54 PM)

Hi, We have a question for the gays of both sorts on here.

Brilliant opening Cheri, it's a poll, of course we have a question. [8|]

Shut it Suze! But slowly so you don't create a vacuum and suck us all in.

Eat my shorts.

Shorts? Like you wear any. Oh sorry folks, the question, right...So some gays have had sex with members of the opposite sex and some haven't. I for example haven't.

I have, several times.

No surprise there Lose Suze. Anyway..so what we want to know isn't so much if you have, but rather why.

Yes, please vote, even if you chose not to post a reply.

Exactly. So Suze, why don't you start things off by telling everybody why you did it?

Sure thing. Well, you see, I was really drunk at the time, and...
No actually I did it to see if I really was gay, to try guys a few times to make sure I really didn't like doing them.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: A Question for the Queers (7/19/2011 3:22:41 PM)

Meh, the title is misleading and rather disappointing in relation to the question.  I'm queer but not gay.  Ergo, I have had sex with members of both sexes and I'm open to others of both sexes, whether genetic or trans, as well as those who are genderqueer/non-binary.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: A Question for the Queers (7/19/2011 3:25:56 PM)

Yeah, the title really is misleading as there appear to be options for those of us who are hetero. Also the natter between you guys is really annoying and detracts from the poll IMO

Then I strongly advise you to just "Hide" them.

I heart you more each day, Miss Heather. Still not sure how to answer the poll or even if I'm included but had to post this anyway.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: A Question for the Queers (7/19/2011 3:56:02 PM)

Thanks for the warning Heather. Smooches to you and Hanners.

Right back at ya!! And you be nice to those two, they're my girlfriends.

Oh and I fixed the title for you guys.

I've nothing against them, just pointed out something that annoys me. But for you Heather, anything ~looks around for Hanners~

Tempting but I don't have a death wish. [:D]

MaxsBoy -> RE: A Question for the Queers (meaning gays) (7/19/2011 6:37:58 PM)

There's no option for me. I'm a queer trans boy who has mostly been with men, but every now and then (very rarely) a woman catches my eye.

Or how about my partner, who is a gay man and has always known he was. I'm technically female, but he's with me because he sees me as a boy. Does that count as gay or straight sex?

Welll....I've been told that occasionally I behave queerly......and I leave for Calibday tomm night so I am very gay.......and excited and happy.......

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: A Question for the Queers (7/19/2011 7:33:12 PM)

[:D]  I was only gay when I was in Paris.

CreepyStalker -> RE: A Question for the Queers (meaning gays) (7/19/2011 7:52:56 PM)

Queer =/= Gay. There's absolutely no implication that queers would be monosexual in any way. But nevermind, semantics and bullshit.

I was a gold star lesbian up until a few months ago, hadn't even kissed a guy let alone slept with one. Never wanted to so never did.
Then I encountered a very pretty man and some interesting circumstances. In that instance I did want to, so I did. Simples.

Fox. this may come across as mean, I certainly hope it doesn't as it isn't intended to be. It's actually meant to be a compliment.

There will almost never be an option for you or Max. You two are something very special, but you must admit, you two are a very rare combination of two very unique people. Nothing but the most in depth and comprehensive poll is ever going to even come close to having an option you to can just check off.

Getting a peek into your lives every now and then is something I value, because your situation is so very far out of my experience that I learn something new almost every time you post about yourself and your relationship. Hanners feels the same way..

tweakabelle -> RE: A Question for the Queers (meaning gays) (7/19/2011 10:45:13 PM)

If I am forced to describe myself in -osexual terms, I'm a headosexual. Which means I'm attracted to people's heads not their genitals.

I find all these labels just cute (and sometimes not so cute) ways of dressing up genital fetishes, and about as useful as a fashion label.

I have no desire to devalue any one's choices, but if we're ever going to end marginalisation and oppression based on sexual/gender preferences, we really need to elevate our glances above the waistline.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: A Question for the Queers (meaning gays) (7/19/2011 10:59:36 PM)

Well, isn't that a very nice way of saying "Anybody but a bisexual is messed up".

If by "I'm attracted to people's heads" you mean you are attracted to intelligence, then I believe the term you're looking for is sapiosexual

Unless you're like Ron, and then you're just attracted to anyone who will give you head.  [:D]

Not at all. It doesn't even begin to suggest that.

Thanks for the tip. [:D]

Alas, Sapiosexual sounds a bit too close to soaposexual for my taste, if that's OK. For me, it's more a case of avoiding all terms than looking for the most accurate one. I don't believe any of them are, or can be accurate to begin with.

I'm not sure how any one can accurately reduce the complexities of desire and attraction to a simple single word, single concept term. The origins of the project to rigidly classify desire and sexual behaviour lie in crude 19th sexology/sociology and for me, are deeply suspect. And if we do have to subject ourselves to the process, surely we can find a better criterion on which to base the process than the genitals of the object(s) of our desire(s).

Sexuality, as we know and understand it today, is a comparatively recent invention that has a lot more to do with regulating and policing desire than anything that could be said to be 'liberating'.
