I got that you were talking about the doll and it was the doll about which I was asking.

So what was the spiel about the benefits of breast feeding for?

quote:

Toys are silly because they are not needed.

I didn't say that toys are silly and not needed... just that particular one.

quote:

Got it. Thank you for answering my question. It's a legit reason. Maybe I should adopt that stance myself.. would save a ton of money on bday and Xmas presents for the grandsons. ::grins:: Eh.. nah. Guess not. For me it isn't about giving kids stuff they need. That's for the parents. I'm the grandma.. I'm going to give out the silly stuff they actually want... you know.. within reason. ::wink::

Why do you have a bug up your butt about this? What button have I pushed? I just think it is a silly doll. It belongs in the same category as Love Boat action figures (yes, they actually did make those) as far as I'm concerned.

Can you prove that? And don't give me any dictionary BS because the dictionaries are controlled by the Illuminati.

As for the breast feeding doll... it's silly but hardly the dire threat to civilization this Ablow (what an unfortunate name) guy thinks it is.

Why do you think it's silly? Little girls have been pretending to feed their baby dolls with a bottle for decades. What's the difference.. or is there one? Perhaps you think that's silly as well? Breast feeding fosters bonding between mother and child, gives colostrum to infants for a few days before milk kicks in which is better for the baby as it provides antibodies to fight disease, it's lower in fat and higher in protein than regular milk. Plus breast milk is FREE and formula is very, very expensive. I think this product should be applauded for showing little girls alternatives to bottles which are much, much better for their future babies.

GI Joe dolls teach our young children that war is entertaining and fun. That blowing things up and killing others is good.. and that is beyond silly.

I guess perspective really has a lot to do with it, huh?

There are those around, who when they see a mom breast feeding in public they think sex, dirty filthy sex,not loving caring motherhood.

It stems from a lack of maturity. When Bevis and Butthead see someone nursing,uhhh,hu-hu-hu,...they feel the need to laugh and snicker......and get boners.

There`s no doubt that fox knew this guy was a hot head who would act outrageous,to get ratings.

I said I thought it was a legit reason. You said the doll was silly because it was not needed. Toys are *not* needed, so I drew a conclusion. What inference would you have made?

Also, Marc, I would appreciate a little bit more civility from you. I haven't done anything or ever said anything to you or about you which would suggest I am attacking you in any way or, as you put it, have a bug up my ass. I was simply curious as to why you thought the doll was silly. Apparently you don't really have a reason. It just is and that's fine too. I was curious. That's all. Feel free to call me Yenta. I have read several folks who find the doll disturbing but yours was the first opinion I had read that used the word silly. There is nothing more or less to it than that.

As for why I went into the virtues of breast feeding, I was explaining my 'own' perception on the value of such a product.

I do believe, in a forum designed for discussion, such is the norm. You didn't ask me for my own opinion, but I felt like putting it out there so I did. Okay?

I didn't even think of that, Owner59. I'm probably getting a little long in the tooth though and my mind doesn't immediately leap to immaturity when I'm on an adult site although there are days. [8D]

I'm afraid the one and only thing I know about the bevis and butthead characters is that they are cartoons. Beyond that, I'm clueless.

And yes, I would say that Fox along with pretty much any other media entertainment source is mostly about readership/viewship so I am not surprised.

This is me being civil. If I was being uncivil, believe me, you'd know it (and considering the shit flinging that routinely goes on around here, I think I'm rather mild by comparison... most of the time). Your inference was incorrect, hence my correction. Whether you intended to or not you came across as passive agressive. Maybe the heat is making me cranky.

ETA: Click the sig line! That's my response for when people think I'm being snarky.

I thought the grin and wink I included would have belied any perception of passive aggressive. Since it did not, I apologize that you came away with such. It certainly was not intended and I have never been accused of being passive-aggressive before so it's not something that I would ever have enjoined as an idea. I tend to say what I think and I do believe that I'm a pretty good diplomat except when it comes to my feelings about Congress and their gross ineptitude.

Wanna kiss and make up? ::grins:: <-- that denotes its a joke.. but, for the record.. I don't kiss and tell.

"It's beyond ridiculous," Ablow told Fox News' Alisyn Camerota. "It's destructive. Little girls aren't even aware how their secondary sexual characteristics will develop, let alone imitating how they'll be used after childbirth. This is another way of turning little girls into adults. It blurs the boundary between children and adults in society. It contributes to the sexualization of children and it makes them targets of assailants, frankly, because it blurs that boundary. It's a terrible, terrible idea."

"I'm going to have to respectfully disagree," parenting expert Jessica Gottlieb told Ablow. "I'm not sure that if you see a little girl as her breasts being sexual that that doesn't reflect more on you than on what breasts are."

"I assure you I'm not a pedophile at all," Ablow objected.

"Dr. Ablow, I think she raises a great point," Camerota noted. "Why is it sexual? Why isn't it just natural?"

"She doesn't raise a good point at all. How about this? How about we have little girls three and four have an OB/GYN suite where they deliver their babies? That's a good idea. That way we can further blur the boundaries so that everybody out there no longer thinks there's any particular difference between a little child and an adult woman. The fact is that little girls don't have breasts that can breastfeed," Ablow explained.

I'm not sure that she was calling him a pedophile...I'd call him a nut. Because little girls play at breastfeeding they are targets for assailants? Please!
When I was little I saw my mother breastfeed and cats and goats giving birth. I guess I'm warped [8|]

Shes not. Its the OP and his idiotic sources that are trying to stir-up another Fox news non-thread.

I agree. Fox news, the source of this clip is idiotic. But perhaps more. Since their owner isn't capable of preventing his subordinates from creating criminal spying rings within their subsequently criminal enterprises, at what point are the companies judicially dissolved, and after litigating damages, the remaining assets returned to the shareholders?

The descent of Ablow (who has written some decent psychological fiction) includes his writing a book with Glenn Beck.

I used to like him as a speaker before he got caught up in the patent silliness of right-wing paranoias.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Most little girls have seen their mothers dress or undress.

And many little girls who are older sisters have seen their mothers nurse.

Nursing is what breasts are for.

The sexualization of breasts is not something little girls are aware initially.

One of the biggest stories in the world right now is about the company that owns Fox, why does it bother you that we would want to discuss a story of international importance?

To a leftist? The point that a company should be dissolved is at that point that its successful

Especially if that company fails to tow the communist party line

Dares to dissent from the elite leftist ruling class

pedo..no, all encompassing dumbarse?? ya

juliaoceania -> RE: Fox News contributor insists he's 'not a pedophile' (7/21/2011 6:58:18 AM)

I think Ablow has never taken care of a preschool child (especially a female one) in his life. He could not possibly hold those sorts of socially retarded views if he had. While I prefer the parenting style of buying children toys that increase creativity, this doll isn't going to cause girls to flash their titties on a "Girl's Gone Wild" video, either...

I remember when I was very little I would stuff my shirt to give myself "lady bumps" (that is what I called them) like my mother had. My mom was chesty, so playing dress up to look like her meant I need something up top to pull it off. My parents didn't think anything of this. It certainly wasn't a sexual thing. And I am sure if I had not been the youngest I would have pretended to nurse my baby dolls[8|]

Someone said earlier that dolls that pee were "silly", I had dolls that peed, I used them in the tub to watch them go. Children are curious about how their bodies work and what their parts are for. I see nothing wrong with a doll that will show them that their breasts are for feeding their offspring... because girls get the message from everywhere else that their boobs are only for a man's pleasure. Maybe we would have less women putting crap in their chest cavities to make them appear to have larger breasts if more females were taught from a young age what the real purpose of them is... they are not a "secondary sex organ" unless you are a man[8|]
