When I was in the Coast Guard my C.O., me, and three other NCOs were in court in Delaware about a year after a drug bust we had made and the C.O. was on the stand and there was some question of how the bales of pot were tested and the defense atty asked my C.O. if she had a degree in chemistry and she said; "Yes, I majored in chemistry with a minor in micro biology."
We started snickering and the judge looked right at us.
The defense atty said, "nothing further."

MSNBC used FOX as the model on how to make money in cable news.  They are two peas in the same pod who feed off one another.  They are both best ignored.

The fact that you tout how great one is while declaring how evil the other one is says a lot about you.

What I do find very interesting is this person is going to tout his 4 yr degree as proof he is an expert in economics... one of my friends has a PhD in economics, is finishing up his JD, and he is a communist. He went to Cornell....

Does that make my good friend an expert?

The real story is that Wall Street, the vast majority of economists from around the world.... they are say that there will be dire consequences if the debt ceiling isn't raised.

This little tiny part of me would enjoy the default that is imminent because it would ruined the Republican Party in ways that they richly deserve. You won't be able to elect a Republican as dog catcher if we default. That tiny part of me is trying to find one silver lining for this hurricane barreling down on us, because it is going to be painful in a big way if it happens. I am talking pain and suffering like we haven't seen since the mid 1930s

I wonder, when we can't pay for our troops anymore, do they get to come home?

I mostly agree. It was a shot, not journalism, and she clearly hadn't done her homework. Absolutely unprofessional. If she wants to be Mike Wallace, she's going to have to learn how to be a good reporter first. Wallace, at least, goes in armed, not shooting blindly. That things like this are "news" is a disgrace.

I've actually never seen MSNBC, but given my distrust of Microsoft's computer products, I can't see why I'd trust them with the news. I have seen Fox a few times, years ago, and it was pretty appalling at times, with an interesting segment from time to time. I haven't seen much TV news at all from the other networks either in years.

But in both cases, and this is true of the other networks as well, it's less indicative of a partisan bias (which, in the case of FOX, is clearly there, and if it's there in MSNBC, it wouldn't surprise me) than of the continuing and considerable decline in the quality of journalism in this country, especially on television.
