DarthVaderOfLove -> Anyone want constructive input on their poetry? (7/20/2011 8:01:49 PM)

I noticed there's not much commentary on the writing and thought I'd start a thread for it. I like to read poetry and am pretty good at constructive criticism. I'm never a dick about it and can usually find something good to say, for every criticism. I'm good at offering input on fiction, as far as content goes, but not mechanics. This is kind of an arrogant thing to say, but fuck it...I have a lot of friends who publish poetry, many of whom with books out. Some of them are fairly well known in that scene, many "up and coming" types. I've spent lot of time discussing it on a critical level. I've had plenty published myself, only a few things in journals worth bragging about. If you knew how easy it is to publish in poetry journals, you'd laugh at me for bragging about it. :) If anyone here is interested in giving that a shot, I could offer some pointers. The point being to eventually get someone else to foot the bill for printing your books, if that is what you so desire. It's like anything, you work your way up the food chain until you're taken seriously decent publishers. I am still a wildebeest...higher than vegetables, not up their with the jackals and hyenas. So put them here or in the title of your threads. Mention "seeking input" or something. The key to writing good poems is not what you put in them, it is what you take out.
