Status: offline 		At DOMA Hearing, Al Franken Disputes Tom Minnery's Claims Against Gay Families


An exerpt from my favorite part of the hearing:

“I checked the study out,” Franken told Minnery. “It doesn't actually say what you said it says. It says 'nuclear families' not 'opposite-sex couples.'”

“Isn't it true, Mr. Minnery, that a same-sex couple would fall under the definition of nuclear family?” Franken asked.

“I would assume it would mean a family with a husband and wife,” Minnery responded.

“It doesn't.

Keep up the good work, Mr. Franken. This is only round one to make sure that DOMA doesn't rear its ugly head again.

Status: offline 		I'm always curious why conservative organizations like Focus on the Family constantly bleat about smaller government while advocating increased government regulation.

And this is even from a Breitbart site.


Focus on the Family - Big Government


In this political atmosphere, groups like the Family Research Council and Focus on the Family (Focus declined a request for comment) now find themselves more likely to be laying off staff than significantly influencing the direction of the Republican Party.  In their weakened state, these groups are now threatening to take their ball and go home.  As was reported in this space a couple of weeks ago, Tony Perkins has lashed out against conservatives.  Perkins called former House Majority Leader and current FreedomWorks director Dick Armey and Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist “liars” for implying that conservatives want less big government in the social arena.  Perkins has further stated that he is advising Family Research Council members to stop donating to the Republican National Committee.

As long as it is their agenda the Government is pursuing.

Focus on the family , pfftttt.  Dobson is a piece of work.

DOMA = Defense of Marriage Act which puts forth the idea that marriage should only be between one man and one woman.

Convicted mass murders, child killers, drug kingpins and others.. all fine and dandy to marry even if they are already in prison. But two men or two women, law abiding who never did any harm to anyone are going to be the ruination of the US should they be 'allowed' to marry.. as if anyone else has to answer to some fucking government authority on who it is proper and right to love. Fuck em..
