Really dating Myself here because I read both for the first time about twenty-five years ago.  Couldn't tell you how often I've read them again.

Being a later in life sadist, 1984 *does* open a new dimension when reading it again from that perspective.  Wasn't My bright idea, either.  I have to attribute it to a friend who was on the boards at the time.  You know what?  He was so right!  From that mindset, it's damn near like porn. 

I'd have been so suited to work at the Ministry of Love.

I actually read it to polish up my English and because I recalled the hub hub they made in 1984, so a few years later I picked it up from the grown up section of the public library and then was paranoid and examined the TV at home and every mirror.

Oh, it becomes a lot of fun.  I happen to like interrogation and role play a great deal, so that's a particular spark for Me.  Physical pain, check.  Emotional and psychological sadism, check.  Electricity, check.  Bondage, sleep deprivation, fear, kidnapping, power, control........ 

Had a few of My other personal special yens been included, I could almost think the book had been written just for Me.

The "foiled again" wasn't meaning you.  I believe it was meaning the OP.  Kind of hard to complain about the thread being gone since the Mods have put it back.  So, nobody's being mean to him, nobody is treating him differently than any other poster, and basically the complaint is now null and void.  Kind of like the child still throwing the tantrum even *after* you give him the cookie.

Which makes me wonder if each orgasm brings the person closer to death. If so, those who have multiple orgasms are pretty well screwed and need to get their affairs in order.
