Who out there is into fire play? In what form? What precautions do you take? How did you learn to do it safely?

heartfeltsub -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 5:04:15 AM)

i am going to be experiencing my first fire play when i go up to Camp Crucible with someone who is extremely experienced at it, so i will have a better answer for this in a couple of weeks. Though i am nervous about it, i am looking forward to it.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 5:45:39 AM)

Fireplay is one of the things that I enjoy doing TO others, and watching others do, but really don't enjoy much of my own.  I'm not that keen on most forms of temperature play and fireplay really does just cross the line of "comfy warmth."  I get cooked and done very early.  It's something like nipple clamps for me- they don't feel good, but it's not agonizing if you take it slow, so I'll put up with it if the other person wants it.

I love fire cupping, fire flogging, fire designs, and simply fucking with my partner through fire.

My biggest precautions are to always have someone there as a spotter, and always have the standard "wet blanket" around.

I learned mostly at Leather Retreat and workshops where fire play is taught and exhibited freely.

Throws bucket of cold water on Fastlane. All of us here smoke as it is pleasurable but we do not play with our smokes. Have you paid attention to what they cost now?

Lol, here is a towel, it could have been worse, Benji could have put you out.

mistoferin -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 6:09:23 AM)

I love fireplay. Something about seeing yourself in flames that just "tweaks" something in your brain. I've been fortunate enough to experience a good number of forms of it. My favorite is fireplay that utilizes the violet wand. Fire cupping is nice too.

A really good friend of mine who is a Domme did a private demo on it with her sub for my ex and I years ago. She was going to be performing the scene at a large event and wanted to get a feel for an "audience" reaction. It was so visually spectacular we were hooked immediately..

I learned to do it one-on-one with someone who had the reputation of being skilled in it and who had do fireplay at clubs, parties, and even at a workshop.

Just not my thing though so I'm sure since I don't practice it I'll forget more than the basics of safety.

Slipstreme -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 8:45:51 AM)

I want to learn how to properly do fireplay.

And the fire whip has me fascinated.

What I don't have is the oppertunity to go out and learn. So right now, no fire.

Well, who doesn't?  Okay, I'll rephrase that.  Other than die-hard homosexual males, who doesn't? LOL

Been there so long that I'm starting to wonder if I was born with it at times. LOL

Here's to praying my daughter doesn't go loco on me as well, but her mother is at least vaguely stable, and I'm only slightly bent... *crossing fingers* Although if she EVER looks at me and asks me what bdsm is, I might just die of embarassment. LOL

Sub03 -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 11:49:25 AM)

Saw fireplay being done at a BDSM club and am a lil curious on it as well. Not sure if it is something i would want to try or not. But it definetly caught my attention at the club.

Just remember. PASS.

Pull
Aim
Squeeze
Shoot

Yay, I learned something from that DM seminar I attended a while back. [:)]

Fire play is one of favorites. I personally enjoy using rubbing alchohol. Though I also enjoy the simpiliest form of fire play in my mind - simply lighting a candle and holding the flame to my skin.

Precautions that I and Phoenix take are as follows:

  • 3rd person present
  • min. of 1 person trained in first aid
  • ice and a bowl of water
  • clean cotton towl
  • make sure hair is tied back and body hair is shaven
  • make sure there is nothing flamable under or directly around me
  • and a working fire alarm

I was taught several tech. for fire play by my first Owner.

Blessed Be,

Sensualips -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 8:18:10 PM)

I think it is very pretty and spectacular.  I have had a little done on me and it really didn't do much for me, but still a nice visual.  I am learning a few basic things, but have only done it with someone skilled right there with me - sort of a hands on learning thing.  (His sub didn't complain much!)

I guess precautions would be having a spotter and wet towel.  The receiver is fully unclothed with her hair pulle dout of the way or covered.  Testing the burn time of all items before using, even if you have used the same item before but it is a new package. Basic stuff like that.

I saw a demo done and then approached the presenter. At another time he worked with me.  All I tried the first session was 1) painting designs, lighting, and wiping out 2) igniting alcohol in my palm and putting out by placing hands on her body 3) cupping using cups and a shaped cotton ball soaked in alcohol on top, dipped slightly in water on bottom. Very basic.

becca333 -> RE: Fireplay? (5/18/2006 11:56:20 PM)

This sounds horrible, and absolutely terrifying.

Damn. Now I wanna know more.

BitaTruble -> RE: Fireplay? (5/19/2006 12:27:35 AM)

I like fire play a lot and Himself and I do this quite often.. even so, we've fucked it up and I do have a burn scar which I'll carry for life because of it. Sometimes no matter how much care you take.. shit happens. And sometimes, you just do dumb stuff and you pay the price for not thinking of all the contingencies.

In my case, something caught on fire which wasn't supposed to .. which in turn ignited a plastic stick on fire which melted it and caused half of it to fall off still on fire.. and gravity being what it is.. it went down and I was under it so it landed on me.  For the record.. burning plastic DOES stick to skin. If anyone tells you it doesn't.. they're lying.

Celeste

Oh good, that makes me even more terrified.  And I still want to know more about it.

Stop making it sound so exciting!

Oh it definitely does.  I heard a few days ago that the Marines had issued an order that the troops not wear synthetic clothing for that reason.
