ORIGINAL: juliaoceania And some people want to use this as an excuse to bash others just because they have a different religion... just fucking despicable... political opportunism at its worst In fairness Julia, it did seem as if it probably was an Islamic terrorist act for a while. Even the Guardian, which you like, reported it that way. There is nothing fair about the intention of the opening poster. He was politically posturing against Muslims before anything was known about this bombing. I watched CNN and heard all sorts of assumptions, but just because you think something does not make it true.... The opening poster has a history of Islamaphobia and of posting before knowing what the fuck he is talking about. He claims to be a professor and a former NPR reporter... tell me, what sort of journalist posts tripe like he did without knowing? As far as being a professor, that is even more unlikely as professors are supposed to have higher standards for disseminating information than journalists do... it is just reprehensible to ask moderate religious people to answer for an action not even associated with their faith... and at the very least it shows a level of fucking cluelessness I have come to expect from certain people that post here. I don't know much about Arizona as I just read a few of his posts, and I agree that the tone of the OP was prematurely judging the situation but if several mainstream news outlets, including the Guardian, were running stories with that take on the attacks then I think that it wasn't necessarily Islamophobia that led some to that conclusion.
