Aneirin -> Judge thyself before others ? (7/24/2011 8:05:35 AM)

With all of what happens in the world of news, the atrocities and horrors we hear about everyday, and with this more recent horror out trots the inevitable questions about the perpetrators mental ability, with some including myself speculating just what kind of ill this person is to society, or perhaps even what experiences this person has of society, could it be he failed to understand something so trivial to the erstwhile silent majority that led to his later activities ?

I am speculating high functioning autism, others say schizoid and undoubtedly there will be more labels to apply to further dislike this individual, but does it ever occur some that come to do what they do have psychological reason to act in the way that they do, and perhaps somewhere in their life they have experienced a failure to simply understand what the majority say they understand, but it is known quite often that when people commit acts of terror, there is a silent percentage of people who agree with the perpetrators beliefs, though not necessarily their actions.

Has anyone ever experienced the class syndrome, where a teacher explains something which your yourself failed to grasp and then asks in finality any questions and no hands are raised, you seeing this also do not raise your hand, as you are not going to be the only one who does so and possibly be the attention of ridicule ?

Now apply that to society and what people understand of the rules written and unwritten

But for the purposes of judging thyself before others, try it, a simple questionaire which might reveal some of what the maligned are said to have ;

If you dare!

Personality Disorder Test

I know me through extermal diagnosi and because I know me, I am wholly aware of my more negative traits and so take efforts to guard against them, in fact my role as a submissive in bdsm quells much of the darker aspects of my personality, I have found a satisfactory way of dealing with myself that involves enjoyment and from that enjoyment, I learn.

I scored low on everything, but I fail to see how this could possibly relate to what the guy in Norway did.

The thought that he is high functioning autistic seems so far off base, it doesn't even make any sense.

Regardless of whether someone fails to understand some little triviality of society as they are developing or not is not an excuse or justification for criminal or violent behavior. Every person who commits these acts of course "physcologically" has justified them. It doesn't make them right.

For the record, I was not one of those kids in class who ever worried about asking a question, either. I don't ever recall having some worry about being "ridiculed" or "embarassed" by classmates if I had a question. But I can remember as early as the second grade speaking out about something that I believed was wrong to the principal. Wasn't worried about that either.

ETA:

For the record, it would appear that you are saying "take this test, and when you see how horrible you score, maybe you won't judge others, given your own potential personality disorders." So therefore, it would seem those of us who score low would not have to worry about making judgment calls.

Further, some personality test on the internet tends to be quite unreliable.

And that is where me and thee differ, but so far I have high functioning autism and dyspraxia, and for the record, I was one of those peope who feared ridicule for thinking differently, yet I excelled where the brightest in exams could not even grasp the basic concepts, yet I failed in exams.

What I am trying to get at here, is everyone is different and by being different the things in life we are presented with, our understanding differs and always there are those that do not understand, some more vocal than others. I am of the belief of what we have in society is what society manufactures, we teach people by assuming they are all the same and therefore receptive of everything taught and then we wonder at those in society that do what they do which is contrary to what we believe everyone is taught.

That is why I posted this quiz innacurate as though you think it may be, to let everyone know they are different than each other and that in terms of what is called, their personality disorders, you know, that which it appears some denigrate others for.

But as regards this internet test which you believe might be inaccurate, I do wonder, what you might think if it was accurate, would you take your negativities as something to forget as if such information was never sought or would you accept your differences in past thinking and realise you just like everyone else is different in what you think and feel and by that what influences your future thinking.

As to those that commit what society sees as ill, I wonder what the perpetrator thinks, do they see the same, and if they do, how do they control their conscience, as I know with myself, my conscience guides everything that I do, it overides thought and feeling, and I am wholly glad it does.

Termyn8or -> RE: Judge thyself before others ? (7/24/2011 7:53:46 PM)

What does it mean when the website says "We know who you are and you are summarily rejected" ? LOL

Really, IMO these tests are not very credible. Actually I would go so far as to say that they are as credible as the labels they generate.

Autistic - Gets in his own little world sometimes.
Manic depressive or bipolar - Moody
Schitzophrenic - VERY moody.
Compulsive - Likes shit of which others disapprove.
COPD - Don't breathe so good.
Narcissistic - Vain, also normal in some circles.
Eccentric - Rich and fucking knows it (and flaunts it).

Note that this glossary is not complete nor exhaustive. I'll take your test, but if the internet shuts down or I get a visit from Jack Booted Thugs, or Men in white or Men in black I am holding you responsible.

Actually, I fully realize that most people, escpecially in elementary school didn't possess the same amount of chutzpah I did. I tutored at the college level, and at the high school level, usually with people who had difficulty understanding the basic concepts. So, yes, I was completely able to see how it is different. For example, while I have never had trouble with public speaking, I do empathize with those who would rather have root canal without novacaine than do it.

Actually, we don't teach people by assuming they are all the same. That assumption may occur at the beginning of the teacher process, but as a teach gets to know their student (or a parent their child), the "teaching" is adjusted to their learning.

Frankly, most have some type of "personality" disorder if it is looked in with the most technical sense.

My negativities? Actually, an internet test is rarely objective, and rarely accurate. I have always realized that we are all different.

This is about the only thing that doesn't read like you are tripping on acid or something.

Because that conscience is what guides all of us to don't commit those "ills." Our conscience and sense of right or wrong is what keeps the majority of people who live in the world from committing murder, stealing, raping, pedophilia, etc.

Whether or not the perpetrator feels they have broken law doesn't make much difference when it comes to violent crimes (which IS what you are backhandedly talking about after all). We aren't talking about people who don't understand the difference between right and wrong, even if they do feel that what they do is "justified." We are still talking about people who understand that what they have done was a violation of the law, but felt that their "cause" justified their actions.

Not even close to the same thing.

Low on everything, though I did find out through the Dante test link at the bottom of the test results page that I have a high probability of ending up in the 2nd (lustful) or 6th (heretics) Circle of Hell.

Fair enough. [:D]
