Remember, the Democrats would accept a "deal" wherein the debt limit is raised, thus avoiding default. The Republicans would not. All else is just details.

Musicmystery -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/24/2011 9:12:37 AM)

How about we wait until it happens.

[It's not going to. This is political theater aimed at 2012.]

Real0ne -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/24/2011 10:39:23 AM)

So what do you prefer then?

Hyperinflation or Back to another psuedo-bankruptcy where they operate in chapter 13 and fuck us by pretending they are not?

You do know the responsibilities of the receiver I presume and how ANOTHER bankruptcy should operate do you not?

You are aware how the people got fucked on the last one are you not?

You are aware how the people get fucked with hyperinflation are you not?

You are aware that is entrapment too I presume?

Anyway this topic is WAY over the heads of 99.9% of the posters on this board LOL

To me it looks like the fools in Washington D.C. are pretending they are high stakes gamblers playing a world championship  poker game but anyone who looks can see they are actually doing their betting with Monopoly money.

As interesting as this exhibition may be to watch, I am not sure what they think they are accomplishing.

erieangel -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/24/2011 11:35:00 AM)

This is kabuki theater. As the last possible an agreement will be made which nobody will like. I worry about the tea party republicans though, Boehner really has to reign those idiots in.

He is in fear of an internecine mutiny...and leading as such.In other words he is completely ineffectual as Speaker of the House....paralysis has set in.

The bulk of your impenetrable nonsense out here you repeat ad nauseam, like somebody gives a fuck to listen to ignorant ranting repeatedly is fraudulent, but not unconstitutional.

So what?

Didn't the desert god say "Render Unto Caesar . . . ?"

The Monooply money is their's for the asking/taking, they created it, they print it, they tax and manipulate it.

The big question is just what they are going to pay their henchmen and vassals with when the Monopoly money is all in one player's hands, while the peasants have all turned to bartering and using other coins?

slvemike4u -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/24/2011 12:47:39 PM)

Last time I checked Obama was a Democrat, and he said he would not accept anything less than comprehensive reform.

Fellow -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/25/2011 3:30:22 AM)

Do we need to exited or emotional about this debt ceiling game? It seems to me the game is over regardless if they increase the debt limit or not. Here are the facts I pulled from "Zerohedge" website:
In the period between December 2007 and July 2010, the Fed parceled out $US 16.1 TRILLION in emergency loans to financial entities all over the world. Almost half of this - a total of $US 7.75 TRILLION - was loaned to four US banks. They were Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and the Bank of America. In July 2010 (the cut off date for Fed “audit”), total US stock market capitalization was $US 15 TRILLION. The Fed provided about half of that.   This inflationary explosion is unprecedented in any era. It represents the biggest ever effort to rescue a debt-based system from the ravages caused by its own debt issuing excesses. It has, at best, provided a “remission” for global paper markets. The cost has been devastating for REAL economies everywhere.
Here is a colorful video describing of Washington dealing with the economic issues:

No it's not way over everybody's head. It is very simple...see 2000-2008, see the 79 times debt limit has been raised. (49 by repubs) This is standard fare until now, for generations.

The difference now is blackmail by a repub house, the remaining squeaking power left from the corrupt right. The last bastion available to do the bidding of their corporate sponsors.

Don't know where you've been but everybody got some tax cut and there has been no hyperinflation except in a very few areas of real estate.

I do not understand your reference to entrapment at all.

This country is in no way bankrupt, it is awash in cash. Thanx to the repubs...it remains in far too few hands and those of which it seems...shall not be touched.

Fellow -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/25/2011 8:22:04 AM)

The US government certainly can manage the debt. The general debt load in the economy is a problem. Due to private debt people do not spend and banks do not lend. The problem with Obama is he has spent a load of borrowed money with very little results to show. I would be with Republicans if the purpose of their resistance raising the debt ceiling is to force Obama administration to come out with clear economic policies that would lead somewhere. This seems not to be the case though. Some analysts propose the goal is to force Obama to make significant cuts in social programs. The last, of course, would pretty much destroy Obama presidency. The Democrats at least pretend to stand for poor people.

housesub4you -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/25/2011 9:55:23 AM)

Ahhhh...and here is what the GOP keeps forgeting, the portion of the debt which was created by them and Bush

FitExpDomwPic -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/25/2011 10:04:31 AM)

Good graphic from the times... But the GOP isn't forgetting anything.

They're simply blaming Obama for their own catastrophic handling of the economy because admitting you're incompetent doesn't go over well with voters. I'm sure the Dems would do the same thing--only not be quite as ruthless or effective as the GOP in their lying and blaming others.

Republicans had the White House for eight years and controlled both houses of Congress for six of those years. They raised the debt ceiling 7 times without blinking an eye, and chalked 6 of the largest deficits in our country's history, and now demand "fiscal responsibility."

Pure, uncut horse shit.

DomYngBlk -> RE: "the Republican Default of 2011" (7/26/2011 6:20:57 AM)

Then you have the stark contrast from last night. One person talking honstly and trying to put forth solutions....the other whining and talking about when he ran a business....he's been in congress almost 20 years now.....relevance?
