Any body else got 'em. And I mean real horses, not the fetish kind.

HannahLynHeather -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/24/2011 11:41:02 PM)

i got none, but i do have a question about horses.

ok, so they are big, hairy, sort of dumb, smelly, and they never fucking clean up after themselves. so how come women like horses so fucking much when they hate those very same qualities in a man?

Termyn8or -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/24/2011 11:56:51 PM)

Because horses listen to their fucking shit and don't get pissed off. And they have bigger dicks, I have pictures.

T^T

Have none at the moment, but I used to be a professional groom, way back in the day.

I actually like the way they smell....

For ME, having an animal that size, with that temperament, trust me enough to do what I ask, even when what I ask goes against all of their natural instincts is AWESOME.

And the best part...... climbing on and riding. Fast like the wind, over jumps, swimming through a river, or just a nice slow stroll down a wooded path. It's all awesome.

And yeah........I've got two knuckle heads. Maj and Mo.

I love the feeling of going from a trot to a full gallop. The surge of power and the smoothness that occurs is unbelievable.

kiarsia -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/25/2011 8:28:29 AM)

I talk about horses a lot. And not just the kinky kind.

igor2003 -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/25/2011 8:34:01 AM)

I had two horses.  Also had the doctor bills, hospital bills, hay and grain bills, ferrier bills, and vet bills to prove it.  Four legs, a half ton of muscle, and a (small) brain of it's own?  No thanks.  Give me two wheels to ride instead.

That said, I actually do understand the attraction for horses.  When things are going well they can be very enjoyable.

Carole11 -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/25/2011 8:40:05 AM)

I also have many doctors bills concerning horses. Usually from falling OFF the buggers. That's probably why horses are not discussed as a going subject LOL :-)

agreed; it's pretty amazing

they're fantastic animals. and they're pretty intuitive at times. i only ride sporadically since i've never owned a horse of my own and don't generally have lots of spare money for riding lessons, so i only really get to go if i happen to make friends with someone with horses who'll take me along.
a few years ago i went with some friends, and they gave me this great older quarter horse who was really good for newbs like me because she could tell if you were really not comfortable going very fast. so she just wouldnt.
by the end of the day, i was super comfortable with her and we went on a gallop across some Kansas prairie. ^_^ it was so much fun.

i've always had a soft spot for them, particularly drafts. i'm manic over draft horses. i talk about them quite a bit, actually, but the horse world is an expensive place, so i've never really been able to get into it.

One of my horses I have owned for about 6 years, and we are extremely close.  He is one of the affectionate, funny ones, and I am pretty won over.  Sometimes when I am talking to him, it is almost like he is projecting affectionate feelings to me.  Hope that doesn't sound crazy, but it is one of the reasons that I put up with the expense, the work and the mess.  He has also taken care of me in some pretty scary situations, so I trust him.  I have read various theories about the psychic ability of horses, and how that affects their herd behavior, and I believe it is true.

I love horses, I love to watch them do almost anything. I lived in WA State & there are herds of wild horses that I would see from time to time. There was a place along the freeway where people would apparently board their pregnant mares & then the mares & foals & we would check them out every time we passed by. I love the idea of riding and experiencing what the rest of y'all do. Unfortunately, I've never figured out how to get a horse to do what I wanted it to do. I've been bitten, stepped on, bucked off, you name it. I've been given all the advice over the years about how to not have those things happen, but the reality is, they do. So I admire them from afar. I also love the way they smell & I love the smell of a barn.

VirginPotty -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/25/2011 12:45:28 PM)

I took my oldest grandum on vacation last year to Wyoming on a "Working Ranch".  We rode horses ALL DAY to herd the cattle.  We spent the last 2 days herding cattle out of the mountains.  We'll be going back again July 2012 by special request of my grandum.  He enjoyed every part of the vacation even though we worked very hard being cowboys!
I'll be honest & admit to never realizing how HARD on the knees horseback riding is if your quads aren't strong.

At the end of the first day I was in alot of pain & limping the moment I got off of my horse until I went to bed.

The last day was the worst, I couldn't stand the pain & when volunteers were needed to load their horse in the trailer & ride back to the ranch in the truck, everyone tried to scoot to the back of the line but I rode right up to the front & said, "I'll go"!

I wouldn't trade one moment of my time at the Ranch & can't wait until next year![:D]

I did a trip like that to Ireland, virgin. No cattle, but 8 hours a day in the saddle riding inn to inn. What a great way to see the country, and my horse was an Irish Draft mare that was just spectacular. By the third day, I was so sore I didn't think I was going to make it, and I ride a lot. After that it got better though, and I would love to do that trip again. Of course, it is kind of hard to justify when i have two great horses and miles of trail much closer to home

Arpig -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/25/2011 2:12:39 PM)

We used to ride regularly in India, in the mountains, but I haven't done much riding since then. Though one summer in New Brunswick, I had a job on my cousin's farm of exercising my cousin's horse that was being boarded there.

Bring in the hay? No sorry, got to exercise the horse... [:D]

DesFIP -> RE: Why the hell do we never talk about horses? (7/25/2011 5:09:43 PM)

We are horseless for the first time in over ten years.

They're awesome animals. You can teach one to trust you even though their every instinct tells them that human are predators and they are prey. They're the closest things to telepathic I've ever met. They read muscles instead of minds.

Why wouldn't women like them? Horses don't mind if you climb off of them and onto another horse. They understand that you always have to buy two pairs of shoes at time. They look good in leather. They think you always look good. They never want to be ridden by your best friend when you're not there. They never say they're on a diet and won't share your sweets. They don't go around getting drunk.

I have none, but I would love to have one one day. I took riding lessons one summer when I was growing up. I would love to take riding lessons again... does it look silly for a 24 year old to be taking riding lessons?

No, not at all
