I was going to ask this in Health and Safety, but it doesn't pertain to BDSM, and there isn't a whole lot on the net.

Why does humidity effect asthma?   We hardly have humid days, but when we do, I am scrambling for the inhaler...I asked the doc, he didn't know, or didn't have the time to spend on my question (gotta love those HMO providers).   So...here it is, hoping someone else suffers with asthma and can answer my query :)

Humidity happens on hot days, which both expands the air and is prone to increased pollen.

That's my guess.

It also effects my pain levels.

My asthma used to kick in on cold dry days. Humidity prevented attacks.

I guess different things set off different people.

Something about the moisture in the air for me.   Last time through Disney's Pirates ride, I had used the inhaler three times and was gasping like a fish at the end.  Underground, stale air with moisture.   Give me bone dry air and I am great!

Just wondered why, being the curious mind and all that :)

I suffer from COPD, asthma and bronchitis.  The hot, really humid days are killer for me.  My lungs and air passages close up and out comes the rescue inhaler.  Plus I'm taking 2 puffs of Symbicort every day.  As much as I hate winter, give me a cold crisp day and I'm able to breathe no problem.

I remember when I was a kid, having a NEED to open my bedroom window and get some air in my lungs to be able to breathe and not feel like a fish out of water.  This was middle of the night panic, my poor dad almost in tears that he couldn't do anything for me.
