It looks like one of the victims of the budget crisis might be the ESA, with funding for the listing of new species virtually removed. I guess nothing says America to conservatives like paving over nature and driving species to extinction. Fortunately, a number of conservatives, including the tea party darling from my district are actually opposing this, so they aren't all bad. As for the rest of them, where are their values? Does the preservation of nature and natural beauty in this country mean anything?

Not as long as it gets in the way of the mighty dollar
This is just the start
conservation of wildlife and environments are way down on their who gives a crap list.
Until its too late and then they will whine "but we didnt know" a bit like BP.

Freaking humans !!!!!!!!

Awwwwwwww Come on folks. We ALL know that without government oversight and all those onerous regulations, American corporations will do the "Right Thing" and operate in a clean responsible manner and then when they reap larger profits as a result, they will share the wealth.

Here is proof. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/picture_gallery/04/africa_polluting_nigeria/html/1.stm

"Endangered Species Act Restored In House Revolt By Democrats | By a 224-204 vote, Rep. Norm Dicks (D-WA) successfully led a revolt against the Republican leadership of the House of Representatives, stripping a provision in the FY 2012 Interior and Environment appropriations bill that would have blocked the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from listing new species under the Endangered Species Act"

The vote already happened

"Does the preservation of nature and natural beauty in this country mean anything? "

Not really, but that is not the point. There are lots and lots pf species' that are already extinct. Wanna bring some back like velociraptors ? We are lucky we ain't extinct. But then we are heading for it.

C'mon, guys! According to some here, we should strive to be more like China, that bastion of outsourcing and business opportunity! They are so much more receptive to corporations, creating a more 'big business friendly' situation, without all those onerous and unnecessary environmental protection laws.

Just think, in a few years, if we pay our cards right, these pictures could be taken the US:

Take a good look, folks, then tell me how much of a shit big business gives if they fuck up the environment, and the people in it, in pursuit of the almighty dollar. [8|]
