They just think "aawww..cute, furry, playful kitty" and forget the mice and birds it will kill and the curtains they will climb and the furniture they will jump up on and the clawing to sharpen its claws so they can attack, etc...

FR Quick somewhat funny story about a neighbor's house cat from where I used to live. Myself and a different neighbor had dogs that were "1/2 brothers" one day when we let them off the leash out back of our condos they cornered the cat in question, so being more of a cat guy than dog guy at that time, I went and "rescued" it from the dogs. The owners boy friend insisted I hand the cat over after it was curled up in my arms and totally relaxed (an ability I seem to have with almost any cat) As I handed over the cat it nailed him severely with its claws in his right hand, and two weeks later I saw him in a local convenience store and the hand was well wrapped. It seems he didn't take the scratch seriously enough and, yes it got infected seriously. About four or five years after that we were visiting an acquaintance, who is a co-worker of my wife's, and he has several cats, I picked up each one and petted them in turn until when I went for the last cat he said: "I wouldn't do.that... it.doesn't like to be...picked........... (sentence trails off) as the cat curled up in my arms and I stroked its chin. My wife burst out laughing and said "You still are more of a cat guy aren't you?" Laughingly, Some Knucklehead in NJ

WRONG. Cats been domesticated by the equiptions- for 4000 years.

did you see my quotes around "domesticated" hunky?? yup "domesticated" by the egyptians but they still retain that wildness in them just like wild cats. That has simply not been bred out of cats. That's why cats chase mice, sleep all day in the sun, etc...never noticed how many of their characteristics are still extremely similar to their ancestors?

True- a cat is still a cat. If my cat weighed what I do- who knows if she would be this nice.
